The Adavnan Lodge is a stunning open plan Georgian townhouse at the main gates of Birr Castle Gardens. As an historic estate property, guests have free access to the gardens, science centre and treehouse adventure playground for the duration of their stay. With its own charming walled garden and a short walk from all shops, restaurants and pubs its perfect for families or couples looking for a place to relax and rewind.

The Adavnan Lodge sleeps 5 with two main bedrooms and a large, bright, open-plan living/dining room. It has period features, open fireplaces, a stove and high ceilings.

We let from Saturday to Saturday at 550 euro for the week. We also consider longer lets so please get in touch.

There is off road parking, TV and wi-fi, and there is also a helpful caretaker on the premises who can help you plan your trips.

We usually leave the keys for you in the Science Centre of Birr Castle just across the road. There is a helpful caretaker who lives on site and who will help you plan your trip.

About the neighbourhood
You are at the historic entrance to arguably the most beautiful garden in Ireland. Birr Castle Gardens also comprises of the Great Telescope; the Historic Science Centre, and an adventure playground with Ireland's largest treehouse. You will have free access to all of this for the duration of your stay.

Birr is a charming and historic town in a very central location for touring Ireland. All shops, restaurants and pubs are walking distance. The river Shannon is not far away, and there is walking and horseriding in the Slieve Bloom hills.

The town of Birr regularly hosts festivals, exhibitions and cultural events, check out: Birr Vintage Week; the Offline film festival; the Irish Game and Country Fair; Birr Theatre and Arts Centre;
Getting around
We do recommend a car for day trips. Birr is very perfectly placed in the centre of Ireland so many places are within reach for a day trip. Galway, the beaches there, the famous historical town of Kilkenny. Or you can drive to the station at Tullamore, half an hour away, and take the train for a day trip to Dublin.

Birr is just under two hours drive from Dublin. We recommend the northern motorway, (via Tullamore) the M4 and then the M6.

There are regular trains from Dublin Heuston to Tullamore. You will then need to get a taxi or bus from there (30mins).

Shannon and Galway airport are approx 80 minutes drive away.

Once in Birr there is free parking at the property but everything is walking distance away.
