The Barn provides spacious first floor self catering accommodation in an impressive and artistic conversion of one of the 'oldest buildings' in the Derbyshire Peak District Village of Youlgrave. The balcony is a perfect sun trap, furnished with a table for two for relaxing with a refreshing cup of tea or enjoying a glass of your favourite wine. The Barn at The Old Bakery is in the centre of the beautiful Peak District village of Youlgrave. Youlgrave in the White Peak is ideally placed for walking the Limestone Way, and the White Peak Way which pass through the village. Youlgrave is set between the picturesque rivers Lathkill and Bradford in the Derbyshire Dales. It is a fabulous location for visiting many attractions as well as walking, cycling and relaxing in the many tea shops. The village has three thriving pubs all offering Real Ale and a good selection of evening meals. Youlgrave is ideally situated for Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall [NT]. Extensive retail therapy is available in Bakewell, Ashbourne, Buxton, the new Peak Village Outlets or Masson Village in Matlock Bath. Lathkill Dale skirts the village to the north while, to the south, Bradford Dale meanders. Both are excellent starts for walkers wishing to explore the White Peak. The Peak District has a wide variety of options for cycling routes and fly fishing. The cycling routes of Monsall Trail and Tissington Trail are both nearby, and cycles can be hired. The Buxton Opera House has many varied activites throughout the year.More

Fantastic accommodation, spotless with quality fittings and linens etc. Everything is well equipped and has everything you would need and more. Ken and Carol made us very welcome as did all the villagers from the local shops and pubs which we visited inbetween our walks...More

About the neighbourhood
Youlgrave is a an attractive village in the centre of Derbyshire's Peal District National Park, recently voted in the top 10 places to visit in the UK. The small charming cottages, traditional of the area, make up most of the village scene. At the foot of the village are the two rivers of Bradford and Lathkill which meander their way towards Matlock. Three traditional village pubs serve real ale and a good selection of food. A shop and post office provide all the provisions needed for self catering. Close by is the ever popular Market town of Bakewell possessing individual shops, including the famous Bakewell Pudding shop. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both within walking distance or an easy drive. Buxton, the famous spar town is a short drive away and the medieval town of Ash...
Getting around
A car is not needed. There is a hourly bus service from the village, to Bakewell (8 minutes). From here connections are possible with Chesterfield (30 minutes) , Sheffield (45 minutes) Chatsworth House (10 minutes), Haddon Hall (4 minutes) , etc., A train service is available to Matlock, (8 miles away) From here a local taxi service is available.
