Interaction with guests
We live across the courtyard in the main barn and are usually around to greet you, show you around and answer any questions. You may see us about, gardening, watering plants, walking our rough collie (Lassie) in the lane, and we are always happy to sort out any problems, offer advice or pass the time of day, but we will not intrude and aim to let you set the pace for our interactions

About the neighbourhood
Tregear is in the middle of the countryside, a lovely valley with woods and cows grazing, streams and fields of crops; the lane is very quiet - a few vehicles an hour, and the gardens and decks offer tranquility and wonderful fresh air. A half hour walk away is Ladock with its highly rated pub, The Falmouth Arms with great home cooked local food, local beers and ciders and a historic church. The lanes are quiet, interlaced and offer access to woodland and streams. A car is essential to enjoy your visits further afield. The A30 is 3 miles north and the A390 5 miles south - these are the main Cornwall road arteries. Both coasts are easily reached and they vary from the traditional seaside resort of Perranporth, sophisticated Lusty Glaze to the wild and tranquil Holywell on the North coast,... more
Getting around
We are on a quiet country lane, with glorious views, in the middle of fields , hills, woods and streams.
The villages of Trispen and Ladock in either direction are about one and a half miles: Ladock has a lovely pub with real ales and great food.
A car is essential for a full enjoyment of your stay and makes the most of our situation in the centre of Cornwall as an ideal touring base.
We are also only 5 minutes from the A39 and 10 from the A 30, Cornwall’s main road which runs from Devon to Land’s End. Consequently most of Cornwall’s attractions are only 20 to 45 minutes away.
Truro has a mainline railway station and Newquay airport, only 25 minutes from here, both with car hire.
Our nearest ferry port is Plymouth 81km away.

How to get there
Airport: Newquay: 19.0 km
Railway: Truro: 13.0 km
Ferry: Plymouth: 81.0 km
The barn is situated only 3.4 miles south of The A30 at Carland Cross, easily accessible from the main Cornwall highway - much of this is dual carriageway from Exeter, and from there are links to the M5 and the country's motorway network. The ferry port of Plymouth is only just over an hour away and the roads are all good A-roads, much of it dual carriageway. Similarly the Airport at Newquay is well served with road and bus links to the A30. Car hire is available at the airport. The main line train from London, Paddington operates about 4 direct services a day to Penzance, stopping at Truro and Truro has several car-hire companies. National Express coaches run to both Truro and Newquay and there are regular local bus services to Trispen. We would definitely recommend a car or cycles i... more
