What a delightful week. An imaginatevly restored 1800's stone home, which I assume originally had animals such as hogs on the top floor. There is a beautiful staircase leading to this large unused area but fascinates one as to its original use. The restored main...More

The property is situated on a quiet lane in the village, and you enter via grand arched doors that open into an enclosed high-walled courtyard. The ground level comprises cellars and a laundry room. An elegant stone staircase leads up to the main entrance and a terraced area that is ideal for outdoor dining and lounging. Once inside the front door you are greeted by a large, well equipped kitchen with stone fireplace and sitting area (36 sq metres), perfect for cooking with friends over a glass of wine. From here a corridor links to a bathroom (bath, shower, toilet, washbasin) and a bedroom (16 sq metres) containing 2 single beds (90 x 200 cms) that can be joined to accommodate a couple (180 x 200 cms). About the neighbourhood
A significant legacy of St. Victor la Coste is its medieval heritage when it was ruled by the Sabran family who were vassals to the Count of Toulouse and participated in the Crusades. The seigneur de Sabran built extensive fortifications around the castle at the top of the village. Known locally as 'Le Castellas', the fortified castle of St. Victor was the defensive strong point of the Sabran domain and had a reputation for being impregnable. It is now a wonderful destination for a picnic, offering amazing panoramic views of the hills (garrigues) and village below.
