Travelled to this wonderful area of Scotland for a long weekend break. We know this area of Scotland well and Greenthorns was a fantastic base. The cottage was amazing. It was dark when we arrived but Pete had sent excellent directions from the main road...More

By road from the south - take the M6 motorway which will bring you to Gretna in the east of our Region. From there take the A75 to Dumfries. Follow the signs for Dalbeattie(A711). From Dalbeattie follow the signs for Colvend (A710). After approximately 4 miles, you go past Kippford Holiday Park, then after half a mile, look out for a concealed entrance sign just before a white cottage. Turn left at the cottage down a private road for half a mile. Greenthorns is on the right hand side of the road, just afterErnsheenieFrom the north - take the M74 from the Central Belt of Scotland. At Beattock take the A701 to Dumfries. Then follow the directions from Dumfries listed above.
