Holiday Rental House
Glentromie Lodge is a large self-catering holiday home situated in the stunning Cairngorms National Park. It is a traditional, early-Victorian Lodge, owned originally by the Macpherson-Grant family, and stands by the River Tromie on a private estate four miles from Kingussie, Inverness-shire. In recent years it was short listed for the location of the Highland home in the James Bond film “Skyfall”. The Lodge is comfortable, spacious, warm and well equipped for a self-catering party of up to fifteen, and has a magnificently secluded and beautiful setting surrounded by natural woodland and with views across the glen. Deer frequently wander past the Lodge, and there are geese on an island in the river. The surrounding estate abounds with wildlife, particularly red and roe deer, grouse, black grouse, pheasants, red squirrels and many species of birds. The accommodation is well placed for a range of activities from shooting, stalking and fishing to walking, skiing, and birdwatching. The prosperous town of Kingussie is within Scotland's largest National Park and offers access to a railway station, excellent shops and nationally recognised hotels and restaurants; and also to the ruins of Ruthven Barracks, built by General Wade on the site of an earlier castle. The barracks at Ruthven were burnt by the Jacobite army in 1746 during their retreat from Prestonpans to the fateful battle at Culloden. The ruins are open to the public and are worth a visit during your holiday. Being situated virtually in the centre of Scotland, Glentromie Lodge makes an excellent holiday base for touring: day trips can be made by car to the west coast, Loch Ness, Aberdeenshire castle country, Perthshire, Edinburgh and beyond. Model railway enthusiasts will be thrilled to know that there is a model railway room, but please note that unsupervised children are not to be allowed in and the door can be locked if required.More

The lodge was incredible. We (15 of us) thoroughly enjoyed the venue. The setting is marvelous, rolling hills and forests abound. The view reminded me of frontier American, small creek, hills, pine forests. The house itself is characterful, with paintings and antiques throughout. Very spacious,...More

The Glen road is not owned by Glentromie so our hands have been tied for some years with regards to maintenance for access, but brilliant news is that the road is now being resurfaced in Tarmac! Half of the two mile stretch is now complete...More
