About the neighbourhood
Weymouth is a great seaside resort benefiting from some of the best weather in England and a long sandy beach as well as a picturesque 17th Century Old Harbour with plenty of pubs and restaurants. Energetic holidaymakers can try their hand at kayaking, paddle-boarding or even kite surfing with nearby watersports equipment hire or take a sailing course at the National Sailing Academy in the 2012 Olympic sailing waters. For the less energetic, there are donkey rides and pedal boats at Weymouth beach and plenty of local walks with wonderful views and birdwatching opportunities. For a good view of the town, take a trip up the Sealife Tower or visit Nothe Fort where you will also be able to explore the underground tunnels.
Getting around
Weymouth is at the end of the train line from London Waterloo, stopping at Southampton and many other places. Once here you can manage without a car using a combination of buses and trains. Local taxi services are easily available and bikes can be hired to take advantage of the network of cycle paths.
