Originally a 17th-century farmstead, Scalebeck nestles peacefully in the heart of the Eden Valley, just one mile from the pretty village of Great Asby, and surrounded by some of the best local food producers Cumbria has to offer.

Come and relax in Scalebeck's 5-acre grounds... or use as a base to enjoy exploring the nearby Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, and North Pennines. Very nicely appointed converted barn near Appleby. Surrounding countryside quiet and attractive. Saw several red squirrels. Convenient for excursions to Lakeland or the hills of the North Pennines. Wonderful location, so quiet and peaceful, no light pollution. The cottage is very well provided, more than one would expect. Very warm welcome.

Within the Eden Valley there are plenty of local attractions to explore - castles in various states of ruin including the fabulous Lowther Castle estate; parks and gardens including the National Trust's Acorn Bank and Askham Hall; wildlife centres including Wetheriggs Animal Sanctuary and the Bird of Prey centre; and of course numerous walks along the river Eden or up on the neighbouring fells.
