Enjoyed our few days in this unspoilt location with lovely walks from the barn. Warm and comfortable accommodation with helpful owners.

Arriving at the at the away from it all location, we knew immediately it was the right decision to return again. The barn was spotless and a cream tea was on hand to pep us up after the longish journey.........Lydia and Chris are so welcoming...nothing...More

First time on this coastline and we were not disappointed. Arrived for 9 nights on a beautiful wed afternoon and greeted warmly by Chris. Settled in to Roseland immediately finding it clean, well equipped and very cosy..although we were missing a coffee machine which we...More

The communal room within the courtyard provides a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer, plus a library of DVDs for all ages, games, books, walk guides and leaflets for many of the attractions in Devon & Cornwall. Tea towels and an oven glove, a kitchen roll, a loo roll, a bin bag, scourer and cloth, washing up liquid and hand soap are also provided to get you started.

About the neighbourhood
Southole Barns are located in the small hamlet of Southole within the Parish of Hartland and 1.5 mile from unspoilt Welcombe Mouth Beach. The village of Welcombe is less than 1 mile away with its Church, Village Hall, Pottery, our Community Shop and a Thatched Public House;The Old Smithy Inn which is well known for good food within the area.

As in many rural areas public transport is patchy and your car will be the best way to explore.

How to get there
Airport: Newquay: 50.0 km
From Junction 27 of M5 at Tiverton, take A361 North Devon Link Road towards Barnstaple.
Just before Barnstaple, turn left onto the A39 signposted Bude and Bideford.

Continue past Bideford for about 15 miles, past turnings for Clovelly and Hartland.Turn right at the crossroads, sign posted Welcombe.

After 1.5 miles, take the right fork signposted “Church”, pass through Welcombe village, past the Church on the right and continue to the bottom of the hill.
At the ‘T’ junction turn right signposted Southole and Elmscott.
Proceed up the gentle hill and in the hamlet of Southole, the Barns can be seen on the right hand side at the head of the valley.
