Meikle Logie Cottage

Cottage -
2 Bedrooms , 2 Bathrooms , Sleeps 6
Dunkeld, Perth and Kinross, Scotland
Highland Perthshire is the true geographical centre of Scotland and there is no better base to enjoy all that the area has to offer than Dunkeld. The scenery around Dunkeld is stunnning and Meikle Logie Cottage has some of the best south-facing views in the area, overlooking Strathbraan. The National Trust for Scotland's Hermitage on the River Braan is just a short walk away.

The cottage is 10 minutes drive from Dunkeld, crossing the spectacular Rumbling Bridge falls to get to and from the property. In addition, it is just 20 minutes from Aberfeldy and Pitlochry, and 40 minutes from Crieff. Within that distance you have not only Dunkeld Cathedral but three distilleries and six golf courses, all with public access. There are numerous forest and hill walks and many cycle tracks, as well as Pitlochry Theatre, the Birnam Institute and m...

Additional amenities & feature info
This property is part of the recently rebuilt barn, now attached to the main steading residence. What was once a derelict barn, last used as a sheep fank and originating from the 1860s, has been rebuilt with the same stone and slate to form a truly stunning residential property retaining the external charm but featuring the best of modern architectural design. A stone-flagged entrance porch provides more than enough space for coats and muddy boots, leading into the main living, dining area. This large open plan room features French doors to capture the best of the early morning sun (opening on to the courtyard car-parking area) with fitted kitchen incorporating twin oven, electric hob, fridge, dishwasher etc - a delightful living and dining area. The original gable height has been extended... more

About the neighbourhood
Walking, climbing and cycling are all popular in the area, as are fishing, shooting and stalking. Trout, salmon and sea trout fishing are readily available (and often very reasonably priced) on nearby rivers such as the Tay, Tummel, Ericht, Earn and Braan and good rainbow trout fishing is available on Butterstone Loch, just outside Dunkeld. Shooting and stalking can be arranged on nearby estates, though advanced notice is required for these seasonal activities.

Further afield, Edinburgh is just 90 minutes drive away (or get a train from Dunkeld and cross the world-famous Forth Road Bridge), Glasgow is within similar striking distance and Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, is just two hours away by car or train. The towns of Perth and Dundee, with wonderful shopping, art galleries,...
