Dunoon is the nearest large town. It is home to the world famous Cowal Games where participants and clansmen from all over the world compete for some of the oldest and most prestigious silverware in piping ; highland dancing and heavy sports.
The area is home to a wide variety of wild life , there is an opportunity to spot red squirrells, sea mamals and a diverse mix of bird life.
Ample opportunities for hill walking and mountain and road biking for all levels within spectacular scenery with multiple photographic opportunities. The 'Cowal Fest' (usually in October) is a 10 day walking and outdoor Festival that offers a great opportunity to explore tracks with local guides.

How to get there
Knockdow is on the Cowal Peninsula, with Dunoon being the largest, nearest town.
We can be accessed either via:
-Ferry with terminals at both Dunoon (foot passenger ferry operated by Argyll Ferries) and Hunters Quay (car and passenger ferry operated by Western Ferries). With both connecting at either end of Gourrock, directly off the M8 (*)
The foot passenger ferry from Dunoon links with the rail service departing Gourrock railway station , directly into Glasgow Central.
It also connects with the 'Bus-link' to Glasgow airport at Paisley Gilmour Street station
-Road : The scenic A82 North, along Loch Lomond side and then the enigmatic A83, ‘Rest and be Thankful’ , before joining the famous 'Three Lochs' A815 to Dunoon and then on to Toward.
