Overview

3 Bedrooms , 2 Bathrooms , Sleeps 7
Kirkcudbright, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland
Abbotsway is a traditional stone-built cottage at the head of a wooded valley leading down to the seashore. It is very private, with its own secluded and fully-enclosed courtyard and a pretty garden with sturdy wooden furniture and a barbecue.

The first thing you'll notice is the space. With roomy accommodation all on one level and in two separate wings the house is ideal for families with children or for two couples sharing. Abbotsway comfortably houses 7 guests in a double, single and family room with twin beds and bunks. There is a shower room and a bathroom.

A modern kitchen/diner in keeping with the traditional styling of the house is adjacent to a spacious sitting room with cosy wood burner and large bay window ideal for watching wildlife.

An excellent games room provides table tennis, pool table and extra TV/DVD.

Reviewed 28 August 2013 for a stay in June 2013

There is not much to say about Abbotsway Cottage because it was perfect for us and we could not find anything to be improved.
Very warm welcome.
Spacious kitchen and living room with fresh flowers and log fire.
Very quiet location with pheasants and cows looking through your windows.
Stunning rocky beaches close by.
Perfect for a relaxed stay with all modern comfort.
Small fenced court to let the dogs out. Perfect for dog owners and for families with kids.
WiFi is excellent but no mobile phone access available.
We enjoyed our stay very much and do highly recommend this place!

Owners and people of the local pub at Auchencairn are also giving a warm and friendly welcome to guests and dogs. The cleanness there is highly improveable. We enjoyed one evening there. Food there is OK but not worth to be mentioned. Still we´d recommend going there because of the friendlyness of the local people.

The best food experience we have ever made...

About the neighbourhood
The nearest town to Orroland Lodge is Kirkcudbright – the Royal Burgh is Scotland's Artists' Town and comes alive in the summer with a tremendous programme of entertainment including a Jazz Festival, open-air Scottish Nights and a floodlit Tattoo (complete with massed pipe bands) in front of MacLellan's Castle.

As well as a haven for art and craft lovers, Kirkcudbright is also a place for family fun, with an indoor swimming pool run brilliantly by volunteers from the local community. At the Cocoa Bean chocolate factory kids can make chocolate creations in an interactive workshop and explore indoor and outdoor play areas.
