The Accommodation comprises a three bedroom terraced chalet (two storeys) known on the park as 'Welsh Cottages'. These are built as three blocks, six in each, of 'terraced cottages' each painted in pastel shades and having own small front lawn and parking space. INSIDETHE PROPERTY The accommodation continues to benefit from ongoing upgrades with laminate flooring fitted and new windows/doors fitted in recent years as well as a refitted kitchen and bathroom. The lounge was completely re-fitted and decorated last year and the bathroom was re-furbished this year. The lounge is currently furnished with a leather suite, nest of tables and a flat screen TV with Freeview and DVD. A small selection of books/games/DVD’s are also available in the lounge. The kitchen/diner has fitted units and provides full cooking facilities via a gas cooker and microwave together with the usual fridge, toaster, electric kettle etc. We have recently modernised the cupboards as well as replacing the dining table with a breakfast bar. The breakfast bar is ideal for 3 people and we tend to find that most users also use the table in the lounge for dining or in hot weather the outdoor table and chairs (available at rear and front of the property) with a gazeebo erected for the summer months. Bathroom/Toilet The bathroom/toilet is situated downstairs and was also recently re-fitted and has a bath with instant electric shower, wall heater and heated towel rail. The Bedrooms There is one bedroom with a double bed, one with twin beds and a third with a single bed. We are now providing a full bed linen hire and bed making service for guests. This is included in the prices quoted on the website. All bedrooms have ample wardrobe and cupboard space and are fitted with electric heaters. Electric is provided via a meter (cards available on the park) and gas for cooking is included in the price. OUTSIDE THE PROPERTY There are parking spaces at the front of the property and we have some seating at the front of the property. At the rear we have a decking area with seating, which is now also covered by a gazebo, This area also has a range of plants planted in tubs to create a pleasant outdoor area for hirers to use. There is also a fire basket available to use. Park Amenities/Facilities The park owners do provide 'free' wifi across the park with daily log-ins required. Whilst the signal strength may vary it is usually ok to check e mails and do basic web site searches but not suitable to download films etc. In very busy periods if the signal is not sufficient hirers can also use the free wifi in the Poolside Bar which operates on a separate system. The fishing lake is very popular with anglers who also have the choice of river fishing on the park. Fish available include Carp, Tench, Roach, Rudd & Bream. NRA licences and site fishing permits are required - full details are available from the park owners upon request. Free poolside bar entry is available to all hirer's. The bar/food area enjoys a family atmosphere with a separate adults only area with some entertainment provided most weekends in peak season. In quieter periods the bar may only be open at weekends. A heated outdoor swimming pool is open from Whit-week until early September. Always very popular with the kids - advice is to use before lunch if you want a quieter swim! Usually open from 10am to 7pm. The site also has a children's park, basic shop and cafe. Dogs are welcome if well behaved and have their own pet bed. However we ask dog owners not to leave their pets unattended in the property for long periods! Dogs are not however allowed inside the Poolside Bar (there are a few tables outside the bar near the pool where dog owners tend to sit in the finer weather!)More

I booked this house for its location - for walking in Snowdonia and evenings in Caernarfon without driving. The walk into Caenarfon (about 25 mins) has no pavement for a stretch so it was unsafe to walk back at night, meaning we had to get...More

Thanks for the feedback Helen. All rooms do have heaters and as you indicated it does warm up quite quickly. As the park closes over winter it has never been worth installing central heating as it would rarely be used. It is in our description...More

Simon - pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Glan Gwna. As soon as I read the review I sent an electrician to check the shower. It seems that someone (possibly a younger guest?) had adjusted the water stop tap in the bathroom and by...More

About the neighbourhood
We are just over a mile from Caernarfon which has a reasonable choice of local shops and several large supermarkets with a small local market on Saturdays. When crossing the swing bridge behind the castle there is an enjoyable coastal walk or if going up the steps on the far side of the bridge this takes you up to a large park with a variety of activities for all ages. If dining out in Caernarfon a taxi into town costs about £5. Our preferred venues are BLACK BULL (pub/restaurant); OUZO & OLIVE (Greek) or FU's (Chinese). In peak season best to book in advance.
Getting around
There is a bus route which runs past Glan Gwna holiday park. The nearest mainline station is at Bangor. For steam train enthusiasts the nearest stations are at Caernarfon and Waunfawr for the Welsh Highland railway. There is also a lakeside railway at Padarn Lake in Llanberris or for the more adventurous there is the Snowdon Mountain railway which also sets off from Llanberris (in main season pre-booking is essential).
