The lodge is located just 20 metres from the river Stour on the outskirts of Glemsford village approximately 2 miles from the historical village of Long Melford, in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, made famous by painters such as Gainsborough & Constable. The lodge comprise of an open plan up to date fully equipped kitchen, lounge and dining area, good sized family bedroom with double bed and single sized bunks., There is also a travel cot. Large shower room and walk in coat and storage cupboard. There is ample secure parking to the front of the property with a ramp up to the front door. This is a lovely place to stay to get away from it all. Surrounded by beautiful Suffolk countryside, just what we needed to unwind. Wonderfully clean and comfortable and hosts Denis and Jean were great. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.

Glemsford village has 2 small supermarkets,2 pubs, a fish & chip shop, Chinese restaurant/takeaway,post office, hairdressers and other shops.There is a farm shop less than half a mile away on the A1092.There are a number of fishing lakes just minutes from the Lodge, there is also an excellent opportunity to cycle and walk.Long Melford is approx 2 miles away and is famous for its antique centre and 2 stately homes (Kentwell Hall & Melford Hall) There is a number of award winning restaurants, tea rooms pubs, fish & chip shop, indian & chinese takeaways. Six miles away is the famous town of Lavenham with its quirky leaning buildings. Also six miles away is Sudbury with a twice weekly market and train station with links to London
Getting around
There is bus routes to Haverhill, Long Melford, Subury, Colchester which is the oldest recorded town in the u.k. and the major town of Bury St Edmunds with its sate of the art shopping centre, theatre, and multi complex cinema is approx 13 miles away. You can get a train from Sudbury to Colchester with direct links to London.
