Catbells is situated in the heart of Keswick. The shops and restaurants are literally two minutes away, and there are also great local walks that can be taken from the house - you don't need to get in the car. The nearest lake is Derwentwater which is five minutes away.

If you fancy venturing a little further, this detached cottage provides an ideal base from which to explore the Northern Lakes. The living space is very spacious and has the benefit of a private patio area and an enclosed shared rear garden and a garage which is ideal for storing bikes.

This house was lovely, well equipped and spacious and so close to the main town centre. Contact from the owner, instructions and directions were excellent. We emailed him to ask for recommendations for places to eat that were pet friendly. We went on his advice...More

The house has been extensively renovated in recent years, and is in very good condition. There are two bathrooms - one is ensuite to the main bedroom, and also a good sized and well equipped kitchen. The beds all have quality mattresses, and the pillows are expensive duck down - we want you to have a good nights sleep.

It's our home too, and we live there when it's not rented out. The décor is traditional with a modern twist and a few designer touches...

About the neighbourhood
Keswick has it's own unique atmosphere for those days when you don't want to get in the car and travel further. There's a great market on Thursdays and Saturdays, good pubs (my favourite is The George), and coffee shops (I like the Square Orange) as well as great restaurants and a really good Booths supermarket. You will eat well in Keswick.

The Theatre by the Lake always has quality productions on stage, and the Keswick Alhambra is a fine local cinema. There are various festivals that take place during the year - film, comedy, beer (!), mountain & various running and sporting events.

Airport: Newcastle: 128.0 km
Railway: Penrith: 25.0 km
Keswick is in the northern Lake District. If you're driving, it takes 20 minutes along the A66 from M6 junction 40. Journey times are about 2.5 hours from Manchester, 1.5 hours from Newcastle. We're right in the middle of the town so it's walking distance to all shops and amenities.

Nearest train station is Penrith. Journey time is 3 hours from London Euston. There's a regular bus to the centre of Keswick which costs £5.50, or there are always taxis waiting outside the station. Or you could walk it in a day...
