Just a stones throw from the River Kent and plenty of green space to enjoy, including Kendal Castle, and only a minutes walk from Kendal train station with a two minute walk into the town centre with shops, cafes and restaurants to enjoy. Ideally located to enjoy the bustling market town of Kendal! There is a lovely kitchen, with electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer. The living room has a television, DVD player and a flame effect stove as a central feature. There is a shower room upstairs and a downstairs cloakroom toilet. There are three bedrooms, two are double rooms and the third a twin bedroom. Bedding and towels are provided for your convenience. Kendal has a great deal to offer its visitors. We have the amazing Brewery Arts Centre for a variety of entertainment, from catching a film at the cinema to watching a comedian or dance performance. All listings of up and coming events can be found on their website. We also have the Lakeland Climbing Centre, Kendal Castle, Abbot Hall Art Gallery, The Quaker Tapestry Exhibition Centre, Kendal Leisure Centre and Kendal Museum among others to keep you entertained during your stay in this vibrant, historic market town. If you want to indulge in a little rest and relaxation the Riverside Hotel, just a minutes walk away, offer 'swim and gym' day passes for £8 per person, £4 for a child. For this you can use all the gym facilities and spa facilities including small pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. There is a market in the town centre on a Wednesday and Saturday. There is also a local Farmer's Market on the last Friday of every month. It goes without saying that you must pick up some Kendal Mint Cake on your travels around the town- probably Kendal's most famous export! The town is fed by the A65 from North Yorkshire to the South, the A591 from Barrow and Ulverston to the North, the A684 from Sedbergh to the East, the A685 from Appleby to the North East, and the M6 motorway some 6 miles away to the South providing easy access to Penrith and Carlisle and then onto Scotland. Railway passengers can arrive in Kendal from the Kendal to Windermere service, and can travel from further a field by the West Coast main line from London Euston to Glasgow, getting off at Oxenholme, about two miles outside of the town. It was an excellent little cottage. The only thing was that the wi fi signal often crashed but other then that no problem whatsoever ! Walkable distance to all the local town center.

We had an amazing time in the apartment. It is perfectly located (3 minutes walking distance from Kendal train station and 5 minutes walking to the town center). The apartment 3 large double bedrooms. It is very clean and the kitchen has all the necessary....More

A popular route from Kendal - Jump on the train to Windermere, via Staveley - a very cool village with fabulous traditional pub The Eagle and Child and the very popular Hawkshead Brewery & Wilfs Cafe. Staveley is also popular for road and mountain bikers who like to browse bike shop Wheelbase. Once in Windermere you are surrounded by cool cafes & restaurants, the Famous Lakeland outlet and lots of art & gift shops. A short walk down to Bowness, cafe culture meets lakeside cruising here. You can get a bus and boat ticket to take you to all the hot spots up and down the lake stopping at Wray Castle, Brockhole & Ambleside, at the top of the Lake. Row boats, steam boats and cruisers allow you to explore the 12 miles of Lake Windermere with ease
Getting around
The Old Shop, Kendal is ideally situated to explore the beautiful Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales. There are good rail links to Windermere from Kendal and Oxenholme train stations. Kendal station is a minutes walk from the property. The bus station in Kendal, also just a few minutes walk from the property, allows access to the Lakes and beyond. We are just 6 miles from junction 36 of the M6 motorway.
