Just over two miles to the south of the property is the hamlet of Near Sawrey,where Hill Top,the former home of Beatrix Potter is situated. Continuing along the same road will bring visitors to the banks of Lake Windermere and the ferry terminal,from where cars and foot passengers are taken across the lake to the town of Bowness. There are plenty of scenic walks in the area,particularly around Claife Heights and Wray Castle.
