Interaction with guests
The cottage is next to the farmhouse and I will usually be around when you arrive. If not then I won't be too far away. You can buy vegetables from us during the growing season. We have door step milk deliveries twice weekly and can arrange for extra milk to be delivered for you during your stay (pint glass bottles). We can also arrange for the newsagents in Cockermouth to deliver newspapers. They arrive with the post so there is no delivery on Sundays! There is a Food Assembly in Cockermouth and I have set up a guest account so that you may order from there if you wish and I can collect your order on your behalf (Friday evenings).

Decided to come back again this year after a lovely holiday last year at Stable Cottage. Everything perfect as expected, would love the recipe for Michelle’s tasty bread! Will definitely be returning in the near future. Thanks.

About the neighbourhood
Stanger is a good location for exploring the Lorton Valley, Loweswater, Crummock and Buttermere. There is a network of footpaths, bridleways and quiet by-roads criss-crossing the valley, and there is ample access to the surrounding fells.
The Western lakes of Ennerdale and Wastwater are within easy reach, and in these places there is often the sort of quiet solitude that is associated with Lakeland.
The market town of Cockermouth is only two miles away, and here can be found an excellent selection of cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops, as well as attractions like Wordsworth House (National Trust), and Jennings Brewery (tours daily).
