There is also three cinema screens showing all the latest movies as well as shows screened direct from the west end. Two of the cinemas have attached vegetarian restaurant and offer reasonable meal deals.

We try to build up a rapport with our guests so that we can do what we can to advise on any activities, pubs, restaurants etc. if required. The fact that we live five minutes away in Ambleside means we can respond quickly if our quests encounter any problems or have any additional requirements.

Spotlessly clean and fresh! Very well maintained, quality accommodation. We’ve been a few times and it’s been consistently well presented and particularly welcoming. About the neighbourhood
Traditional Lakeland town which is busy in all seasons. Number one place for outdoor clothing shops but also supermarkets and an eclectic mix of independent shops, banks, Post Office. There is an array of traditional bars, wine bars, restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets, 3 cinema screens showing latest movies. Fantastic live music and jazz bar. Ambleside climbing wall is just opposite cottage and a short walk to the Lake with more restaurants/bars. Cruises from here to Bowness, Brockhole, Lakeside and Wray Castle (for Beatrix Potter visit). Variety of watersports at Waterhead or Lowwood Bay!
Good selection of buses in both directions to Grasmere, Keswick, Dungeon Ghyll, Hawkshead, Bowness, Kendal,
Getting around
Good local bus service in all directions but plenty of walks on the doorstep. Electric bus to lake for those with less mobility.

Main trains North and South stop at Oxenholme which has regular service to Windermere. From here there are local buses and also taxi rank.
