About the neighbourhood
The area enjoys a sheltered climate, protected by the Lake District from the worst of the westerly weather that comes to our shores from the Atlantic and the gulf stream does its best to help out in the cooler months. Carnforth is the nearest town of any size and is only 3 Km away, it has a range of shops including three reasonably sized supermarkets. Carnforth has a well known historical railway station which was used in the film Brief Encounter, there is a teahouse at the station decorated in the 1940 style with an interesting museum detailing the local areas history. During the summer the area benefits from a large number of shows and village fetes. There are a number of golf courses within 12 miles, the nearest being Silverdale which is 4 miles away.
How to get there
Although public transport, trains and buses will take you more or less anywhere I would recommend that a car would enable you to get the most out of travelling round the local area and taking you to some of the most beautiful parts of the country.
