Interaction with guests
Now we are semi-retired, we are not always at the property when guests arrive or depart, so we now have a key safe for the property to enable guest to let themselves in and get on with enjoying their holiday if we are not about. In the propety are several laminated sheet with useful information on the property and surrounding area. We are always available by phone and have a good back up team for any eventualities when we are not there. We send good instructions prior to our guests arrival so we can be found easily (guest are welcom to call even if we have said we are not at the property) should they struggle to find us, as we can always guide them in by phone, neighbours are also willing come to the rescue if a search party is required!

Just what was needed, a gorgeous converted barn with very high spec and fittings. Can't fault anything tbh was jyst a perfect place to stay in a peaceful location.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hay Barn which was cosy, clean and very well equipped. A great place to stay if you want to explore the Sherborne area.

About the neighbourhood
We are situated in a small hamlet between two dairy farms, one in the hamlet and the other on the hill above the hamlets church, we are just 8 minutes drive from the beautiful Abbey town of Sherborne. The area is very rural, surrounded of course by grazing pasture, it is splendidly quite with just the sound of birds and the gentle lowing of the cows as they wend their way slowly down the track to go to the milking parlour.
Getting around
It is useful to have a car to get around and see the many attractions both near and further affield, but if you just want quiet and a space to relax walk or bring a bike - many have chosen to come with just a bike and have had a lovely time. Both Waitrose (which is near us in Sherborne) or Tesco which has to come from Yeovil will both deliver and know where we are. There is also a village store which is very comprehensieve - in the next village. Please ask prior to arrival as they may be happy to deliver if you put in a big enough order. They have a good selection of local cheeses home made pies and cakes, good ham and bacon and stock organic milk etc.

How to get there
We have easy access from the London direction by road via the A303 and also by train from London Waterloo and all the stops between. The train comes in at Templecombe and takes approximately 2hrs30min running every hour and every half hour in rush hour. Taxi cabs can be hired in advance of arrival. Please not there is no taxi rank at the station, so please book your cab before arriving. Some services do not take bikes so please check when you book your ticket.
We also have easy acccess from the South also via A303 and the Waterloo to Exeter Train. The journey is quite easy from Portsmouth and Cornwall plus all the stops in between using connections.
