The warm and cosy lounge has TV with Sky, DVD player, wi-fi, I pod docking station, tourist guides
The cottage was built with reclaimed materials and this ethos is echoed inside
The oak dining table looks out onto the garden in this light and bright dining area
The kitchen was new in 2015 and has everything you could possibly want for a self catering holiday
The snug has a dvd player, a large supply of games, books and DVDs - a quiet place to sit and read
The double bedroom  is en suite and has plenty of storage and looks over the Old Rectory
Have a good soak after a long walk - the good sized bathroom was refitted in 2013
The twin bedroom has a wardrobe and bedside cabinet and views over The Old Rectory
West Lane is a bridle path adjoining the cottage - you can take a fab circular walk of an hour
The Millennium Green play and picnic area is a short walk down the bridle path and adjoins the River
You can take a variety of country walks from the back door - some wonderful views to be had
Dogs are welcome!  The adjacent bridle path is such a boon for walks, if a little muddy after rain
Dogs are allowed all year round at Kimmeridge Bay - take in Corfe Castle on the way
Take the opportunity to try a Dorset cream tea - this at Moreton Tea Rooms (room for dogs outside)
The Dorset County Show is a great event
The fabulous Thimble Inn is a short stroll down the bridle path
The Iron Age Fort at Maiden Newton is incredible
Don't miss a trip to Sherborne - Abbey, Castle and wonderful 'different' shops and galleries
Thomas Hardy is buried at Stanford, just down the road
Sculpture by the Lakes - a peaceful haven nearby
Poundbury near Dorchester - visit to see Prince Charles' vision of a modern way of life
No visit to Lyme Regis is complete without fish and chips!
Beauty at Charmouth - home of fossils and a wonderful beach

Adjacent to a bridle path so ideal for walkers and dog owners, West Lane Cottage is a modern cottage built using reclaimed materials and furnished to reflect it's Country setting. Piddlehinton is a delightful village which has a pub and a children's play area both of which can be easily reached by taking a short walk along the bridle path. Many visitors return year after year to this cottage as they love it cosy and welcoming atmosphere. The cottage is set in in rural West Dorset yet is only 6 miles from Dorchester and 12 miles from the Jurassic Coast.

Location great for being near lovely walks & then short car distance from shops & beaches. Accommodation had more than enough kitchen equipment, games, dvd & books to keep the family busy. The owners left lots of useful info for the area. Only down side...More

This cottage was a lovely surprise, as good as the photos are, it doesn't show its true potential...we were delighted to find an ensuite bathroom and did not feel on top of each other even though we are a family of four and one dog....More

The County Town of Dorchester offers a good range of shops and places to eat, as well as Museums, Sports facilities, a Market Place and Gardens. On the outskirts is Poundbury, famous internationally as a pioneering and controversial example of urban development using principles expounded by The Prince of Wales. Piddlehinton is mentioned in the Domesday Book and during the reign of King Athelstan in the 10th century was granted to the Abbot of Milton. William the Conqueror gave the village to his half brother Robert, Count of Mortain. Getting around
It is a short drive (6 miles) to reach the A35 which can take you to Dorchester (10 minutes); Bridport and the Jurassic Coast or Poole and Bournemouth. Other popular destinations easily reached include Sherborne, Sturminster Newton, Shaftesbury, Cerne Abbas, and Lyme Regis. There are no motorways in Dorset which is one of the appealing features of the county and you will find some unspoiled country lanes with spectacular views.
