The Old Salthouse is a ground floor studio apartment that underwent complete refurbishment into a contemporary living space.

Located within the iconic 'Barnaloft' complex located in the heart of the old fishermans quarters of St Ives known as 'Downalong'. The studio apartment is on ground level with a private parking space (which is a luxury in St Ives) right next to the front door. The Barnaloft / Piazza apartment and studio complex was initially converted in 1962 from a pilchard curing cellar and seine loft and provides private access to the beautiful Porthmeor beach where you can watch the sunset with a chilled glass of wine.

This is an amazing little hidden gem. The studio style layout works really well. It was warm and inviting and so was Tim the gentleman who showed us around. location was great.beach on the door step.Tim the gentleman that gave us the key was lovely couldn't have been more helpful,the tin opener wasn't working ,i went round he replaced it straight away.The little corner shop was great ,well stocked.Shirley the owner rang us on the morning to see if we were on our way,thought that was a lovely touch.Chuffed...

If you really want excellent holiday accommodation in St Ives then no 23 is for you. You’ll be met by Tim at the corner house B&B who will give you your key, plus all the information you need. The open plan living area is fully tiled, with gas central heating and comprises a double bed, wardrobes, a large double leather sofa bed and 32' plasma wall mounted TV with 36 channels and a DVD player.

The kitchen is fully fitted with a breakfast bar, electric hob, oven, extractor, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. All cutlery, crockery and utensils are provided. The large leather sofa bed is ideal for 2 children to sleep on at an extra cost to cover linen.

The bathroom comprises fully tiled shower room with heated towel rail, wash basin and lavatory.

There is also an outdoor cupboard with ironing board, extra seating an airing rack and deck chairs.

About the neighbourhood
Downalong is a picturesque conservation area with a maze of granite and slate houses and cottages, narrow winding streets and alleyways, all leading to either the lovely beaches or the working harbour. Porthmeor beach is a haven for surfers with golden sand and crystal water or Porthgwidden is a smaller bathing beach where seals and dolphins are seen regularly.

The Tate Gallery is a 5 minute walk from the apartment and so to is the Barbara Hepworth Museum.

Cornwall is known as the English Riviera, lying in the Gulf Stream with warm waters and palm trees growing all year round.
