About the neighbourhood
Fowlmere is a quintessential English village where the friendly local people usually stop and say 'hello' to everyone they meet. The area is full of fantastic walks including one to Fowlmere RSPB Nature Reserve home to Kingfishers, Barn Owls, Turtle doves and a herd of deer. The village is steeped in history and has a historic site called the Round Moat dating back to medieval times and thought to be where a Castle was situated but, now it is mostly overgrown woodland where children love to make dens. During the wars Fowlmere was a satellite airfield to Duxford where the RAF and USAAF used to fly Spitfires and Mustangs. There is a Hairdresser, Beautician, Willow Weaving courses, Village Hall with regular events and excellent pubs.
