About the neighbourhood
Polruan lies on the banks of the River Fowey and is the quieter of the two villages, from the top of St Saviours Hill car park you can look down to the harbour and across the river to Fowey or turn around and look out to sea. There are two pubs and two cafes in the village offering a variety of meals. Polruan is on the South West Coast Path as well as accessible to beautiful scenic walks around the village, in particular the Hall Walk can be enjoyed along with the walk to Lantic Bay about an hour away. Many boat trips are available, in particular a sailing experience along the coastline aboard 'Pettifox' is a must. Polruan is also a good place to base yourself for a visit to the Eden Centre, which is just 9.2 miles via the car ferry.
There is a Polruan to Looe bus that goes via Polperro, many more bus routes from Fowey that are accessed via the passenger ferry across the river from Polruan, this runs every 15 minutes. From Fowey you can catch a bus to Par main line train station or continue on to St Austell and beyond. The car ferry at Bodinnick is approx 5 miles away. In the summer months a ferry runs to Mevagissey from Fowey.
