Please see “Owners notes” at bottom of advert. Featured in The Guardian’s “Britain’s Top 10 Cutest Log Cabins”, Milk Wood is one of our Dog Friendly Snowdonia retreats with indoor Sauna, woodburner and WiFi, hidden in a clearing on the edge of the woods on the slopes of the Wnion Valley, within an exclusive small complex of private log cabin homes. Imagine a cosy log cabin sheltered by the woods, in an idyllic countryside setting, stargazing on a clear night, then relaxing inside by the log fire with a glass of wine (or hot cocoa!), and then retiring to a comfy bed to dream the night away. Romantic Breaks don’t get much better than this, and special family memories, too, after the cosy experience and adventure of Milk Wood. Whether you seek the perfect unwind, or have a birthday, anniversary or just need that special break, Milk Wood Lodges, the location and the wider area is ideal for couples and families, and will cater for your every need. You enter Milkwood from the rear decked area. A long hallway leads to doors off to the sauna room, bedrooms and kitchen/ breakfast room, and finally into the spacious sitting room with large wood burner, comfy sofas & beautiful drapes. Adjoining this is the cosy dining room for that intimate meal. All rooms are furnished in modern style, while keeping that romantic log cabin feel. Original artworks by a local artist hang on the walls. This stunning 5-Star cabin has free Wi-Fi, as well as Sony TV & audio equipment for your enjoyment. So, if the weather keeps you in, you can entertain yourselves. The fully fitted kitchen has a wide cooker, large American style fridge freezer, dishwasher, as well as a clothes washer/tumble dryer. If you don't want to cook, the modern gastro pub (Cross Foxes) is just 2 miles away. Or, you can stay cabinside instead, and eat by the warm, cosy wood burner, or have your breakfast or lunch on the wooden bench/table set in the peaceful garden, taking in the beautiful sounds of the many wild songbirds inhabiting the woodland view on three sides of the garden behind Milkwood. It provides a tranquil space with ambient quietness, fresh air to breath, no light pollution; this is what visitors find so striking about the lodge, Brithdir and the area. The noise of the city is removed from one’s senses and a whole new world appears, with views of woodland, valleys and hills. It’s the ideal place to recapture serenity and recharge the batteries. In the old Welsh town of Dolgellau there are quaint shops, cafes and restaurants. There is also a Co-Op for general food and a Euro Spar that has fish, good wines and other specialties. Before emailing a request, please check the Availability & Price/booking information and our start days and bookable periods that we do. We also need to know the full party make up and Dog’s breed & age before we quote. NOTE - In case Milkwood is showing as booked, we have two other lodges: Wnion Wood for 4, and Milk Wood Bach for 2 or 3. (Search by home ID 147796 and 227079 at the top of the page.) These are luxury lodges, each with their own private Sauna. Everything is fully inclusive within the price, including all linen, logs & utilities. More

We stayed with 2 children in April and it was excellent. We were sad that the hot tub was no longer in use as that would of made it for us. Although there is a sauna actually in the lodge which we used. We were...More

About the neighbourhood
Brithdir Brithdir is a small village; alas, no shops now like many villages, but quiet and unspoiled. It’s like travelling into the past, and is set on a hill side with view of Cadair Idris and the valley below. The foot entrance to the Torrent Walk, also located in Brithdir, is 0.5 Mile from the lodges. Torrent Walk: One of Britain’s most spectacular riverside paths, The Torrent Walk, is within walking range of the cabin, running alongside the River Clywedog in Brithdir, and is some two-plus miles east of Dolgellau. The omnipresent ferns and mosses carpet the valley in rich emerald green. Massive boulders and tumbling waterfalls suggest the name of this walk. The walk hosts a detour to the ruins of an old iron ore furnace from the early 1700s, and the remains of an old wool mi...
