The Garden House is a modern barn conversion finished to the highest luxury and eco standards.
The kitchen area is exceptionally light and airy, well equipped and a dream to use.
With underfloor heating, the lounge area is a great place for up to four people to chill out.
The woodburning stove provides the focal point for cosy winter evenings.
Your private, sun-drenched patio is straight outside the French doors; with parking spaces beyond.
Bedroom 1 has a comfortable super king size double bed which can convert into twin beds if required.
Bedroom 2 also has a very comfortable modern kingsize bed.
Each bedroom has a luxury en-suite shower room with underfloor heating.
Here's the glorious view west over the vegetable garden, as seen from an upstairs window.
The Garden House has private parking for two cars alongside the private patio.
The summer house by the lake. Described by a guest as 'a magical place'.
You're welcome to use the summer house for a meal by the lake, or to relax and read a book.
The planting, landscaping and views are inspirational. Don't forget your camera!
This is the view from the hide, where—if you're lucky—you might observe a busy kingfisher.
A peacock butterfly alights on a flower to sip the nectar.
Under a hot sun, carp bask in the warm water of the lake in the height of summer.
A woodland path wends its way around the lake, here seen in the winter sun.
In autumn, a majestic white stag stands in a field which forms part of the 18 acres.
With 18 acres to explore, every turn holds new vistas and delights.
The woodland path winds along the stream. Keep quiet and you might see deer in the shady glades.
Kerry and John, 2 of our guests, were married locally and used our garden for their wedding photos.

The Garden House is the perfect getaway for a family of four, or two couples, wishing for the peace, quiet and clean air of deep Devon countryside. Found down an unmade lane, The Garden House is a recent conversion of a stable block that once served a nearby stately home. With underfloor heating, heat-recovery ventilation, solar hot water + electricity, you'll be warm and cosy in this beautifully-appointed dwelling. Note that there are no 'hidden extras': the price is all-inclusive.

Upstairs are 2 spacious bedrooms, one with a king-sized double bed, the other with your choice of either twin beds or—by zipping and linking—a second king-sized double. Both bedrooms have luxurious en-suites with large showers and East-facing windows to catch the morning sun.

Downstairs is a well-equipped luxurious kitchen/dining area with a frid...

Beautiful peaceful location, a real find. Cottage is furnished to a very high standard and a lot of thought gone in to the lay out. Two bedrooms en- suite is ideal as we were travelling with friends so personal space is very important. A good base for touring North Devon but it is a down a few unmade roads but...

Thanks for a perfect review, Jennifer. Do come again.

Lovely scenic location. Imagine it would be stunning in the summer months. Our visit was early spring so the surrounding grass land was quite boggy under foot - wellies were essential. Feeding the fish in the lake became a daily activity for our two sons (aged 10 and 13). A variety of places were easily reachable. 30 mins from Bude....

Management response:

Thanks for an informative review, Rebecca. Sorry about the wet Easter weather, do come again when it's drier :-)

About the neighbourhood
The Garden House nestles in the most sparsely-populated area in the region—no 'rush hour' here—equidistant between the rolling moorland of Dartmoor (15 mins*) and the great beaches of the North Devon and Cornish coast, famed for its delightful fishing villages, cliff walks and sandy surfing beaches (nearest, 25mins). On the doorstep we have Winsford Walled Garden (a 1 minute walk); Halwill Nature reserve (3 mins); the North Devon Alpaca Park (9 mins); and Cookworthy Forest with its cycle network (7 mins).

Dark skies are guaranteed as the nearest city is 45 miles away; you'll be stunned by what you can see from the patio and garden, particularly on clear autumn and winter evenings (if you don't own a pair, why not buy or borrow a pair of binoculars or telescope to bring wit...
