Primrose Hall is a homely cottage in the centre of the lovely village of Empingham, with parking immediately outside. A pub serving hot, home-cooked food is one minutes walk away and open all day. There is also a shop open 7 days a week, a doctors surgery and a hairdressers. Originally a farm building, it was converted in 1863 as a meeting place for The Primrose League, a political organisation set up in memory of Benjamin Disraeli and using his favorite flower as an emblem. In the middle of the 20th Century it lapsed into dis-repair and in 2008 the current owners completely renovated it, converting it into the wonderful holiday cottage it is today. A few weeks before your stay, Catherine will send you a personal email with details she feels will be useful to you...where to pick up the key, where the thermostat is, how to find the village shop, where the wifi passcode is, where a spare key is located etc. If you have dogs she will suggest good walks and which areas of the Pub allow dogs. If you have children she will let you know what facilities are in the cottage for them and suggest places for them to go dependant on their ages. On your first evening she or her husband Simon will call round to answer any queries you may have.

Perfect location within walking distance of Rutland Water, great little walks around village for those short dog walks, Oakham is a beautiful little town. The cottage is perfect with added extras and more, a bowl of water ready for our dog and a chilled jug...More

Rutland has a rich heritage with many Castles and Stately Homes to visit. The magnificent Burghley House, built beween 1555 and 1587 lies on the outskirts of Stamford, and Grimsthorpe Castle, Rockingham Castle, Belton House, Belvoir Castle, Broughton House, Deene Park and Kirby Hall are all close by.The Watersports Centre, Fishing Lodge, Cycle Hire Shop, pay and play Golf Course, Rok Blok, Sailing Club and Bird Watching centre are all within 5 miles of Primrose Hall. The picturesque village of Exton is 3 miles away with its excellent pub and bakery, a Falconry and Owl Centre and is home to the famous Barnsdale Gardens. Barnsdale Hall Hotel, 3 miles away provides wonderful spa treatments whether you want flotation therapy, a make up lesson or an Indian head massage!
