On our bucket list was Iceland and thinking we would be very cold and very rough wet terrain we did not have high expectations. Very wrong! The weather did cooperate, for good, first impressions, but the high quality of the new apartment, it's lofty comfort and abundant hot water, new appliances and amenities was thrilling to find! A lovely, historic, small, quiet village, we found the rate most attractive and with so much in the area to see, and hospitality warm and anxious to please! Wonderful food in local restaurants and cafe! At first we thought Reykjavik was too far away but roads are great with only a 45 min ride-- saving a nice comparative lodging amount! Lovely time of year to travel but bet the auroras are grand when the dark skies come! If time would allow-- we'd love to return.
