About the neighbourhood
Little Longstone is a tiny, linear, central Peak District village with an excellent pub, the Packhorse, and The Hollow tea-rooms which also serves breakfast and light meals. Just 5 minutes on foot from Monsal Head with the famous viewpoint and viaduct, the Monsal Trail is a mecca for cyclists and Hassop Station (cycle hire, cafe, gifts) is less than 10 minutes away by car. Beautiful Monsal Dale is within easy walking reach and its weir is one of those 'must-see' places when visiting the UK's oldest national park, especially if in full spate. Also in the village is the Congregational Chapel now available for unique wedding hire.
Getting around
At Monsal Head is the Monsal Head Hotel, Stables bar (beer garden) and Hobbs Cafe (gifts, snacks, garden overlooking the dale) and public parking with toilets. 10 minutes away in the opposite direction is the larger village of Great Longstone which enjoys 2 more excellent pubs, a small shop and tiny dairy with milk produced by cows grazing in fields next to the 13th century church of St Giles.
