Booked this guest house as a last minute stay on hotels.com. An agent overseas called me to confirm the day of check-in and put me in touch with a local agent. I met the local agent at the guesthouse and she was kind enough showed me the unit and ensured all was in working order before leaving.
After being at the guesthouse for one hour the overseas agent contacted me via whatsapp claiming that expedia-they own hotels.com has cancelled my reservation as cc fraud is suspected and I would have to either pay cash or find somewhere else to stay. I was flabbergasted and confused.
I contacted my cc company who assured me that all was well and the transaction to pay for the accommodation was successful. I then contacted hotels.com who informed me that my reservation had not been cancelled and they could not explain the agents claims.
