ABOUT THE SPACE Located on the southern tip of Isla San Cristobal, a remote and tropical island, with no roads. Here you will find a healthy coral reef and 55 acres of jungle for you to explore. The Mangrove Treehouse is a loft-style house perched above the water and tucked in amongst the mangroves. The transparent and bug-proof walls offer a stunning 360 degree view of the lagoon and the back yard jungle. The house is a split level design, that can accommodate up to 5 people. Upstairs is a king sized bed surrounded by curtains for your privacy, there is also a hammock there for your ultimate relaxation, that can be exchanged for a single bed for the 5th guest. On the ground floor, there is a king sized convertible couch, perfect for a second couple or your kids. The kitchen is equipped with a propane stove, a fridge and the basic kitchen necessities should you decide to cook for yourself. If you would like to join us on the communal dock, we offer group meal services upon request, menus depend on available local ingredients and the taste of our guests. There is a small bathroom within the house for your convenience. In order to protect the reef however, we encourage the use of the composting toilet outside- for your longer bathroom visits ;) The bamboo shower is also outside, with 180 degree view of the surrounding jungle. Please bring Bio-degradable soap, and be conscious of water and electricity use, as we are all sharing our rain catchment and solar system. !!! IMPORTANT: THIS IS A RUSTIC PLACE, NOT A LUXURY RESORT !!! It's for the adventurous, who want comfort in a remote setting, and want to experience realities of rural life in the tropics. In addition to the abundant pleasures of the lush forests and reefs, you should expect to….. WEAR BUG PROTECTION when being outdoors during dusk and dawn: We are bug conscious in the design of our accommodations. You will see dozens of geckos feeding on the insects on the outside of the screens that keep you bug free in the house. THERE ARE NO RESTAURANTS nearby CocoVivo, so many guests choose to participate in our mealplan. Our rotating teams of private chefs offer delicious communal meals for an additional fixed fee. When you message us, please tell us what your plan for food is, or ask us to provide more information about the mealplan. FEEL, SEE, HEAR, AND SMELL NATURE: Maybe the howler monkeys will wake you up. Maybe you will see spiders of unreasonable size. Maybe there will be a tropical storm, blowing warm lush rain in all directions. Our cabins are designed for maximum nature experience, and to bring in the breeze - and sometime with it some moisture. Maybe it’s a perfect, calm night, and while you are looking at a perfect reflection of the milky way in the water, you notice the natural smell of a healthy mangrove forest. All these things can be part of the experience. More

About the neighbourhood
This neighborhood is WILD! You really become PART of the eco-system when you stay at CocoVivo. We take sharing this paradise very seriously and we want to keep it comfortable for our animal neighbors too. The fish, the dolphins, the sloths, the howler monkeys, the herons, the parrots, the kinkajous and the iguanas were all here before us, and luckily still are. Please be conscious of trash you bring; remember that cold beer and soda are available for a reasonable price, in bottles that will be reused. No need to bring beer/cans/plastic bottles. Most sunscreens can harm the coral reef; if you plan on using sunscreen when snorkeling, swimming, or kayaking, please bring reef-safe sunscreen or ask us for it.
Getting around
Once you arrive at CocoVivo, remember, we are in a remote area on an island with no roads. There are no shops, supermarkets, or anything like that. There is plenty to do on the premises, but if you get island fever, we do offer some tours around the area. Have a specific destination in mind that’s not on our list of tours? If there are enough interested guests to make the trip cost-effective, we are delighted to take you on an adventure just about anywhere you want to go. You may also be able to tag along on a speedboat trip back to town, for a small contribution for gas. If you must go to town on your schedule, you can arrange a private trip with our hosts for $60-$100 depending on which boat is available.
