We had a lovely family holiday with 2 children under 7 in this beautiful cottage. There was lots of great outdoor stuff to do nearby, and it's only a few miles away from the impressive Ribblehead Viaduct - worth a walk under and a train...More

A lovely cottage with everything you could need. Big enough for rainy days not to be a problem, walks from the door step and stunning views of the hills around. Our 1 and 3 year old loved racing around it.

About the neighbourhood
Dentdale is one of the smaller and quieter dales and where you will find yourself immersed in natural beauty, stunning scenery, a depth of heritage and the culture of a Dales community that attracts artists and lovers of wildlife and landscapes. Spend time strolling from the cottage itself through beautiful meadows and lush riverside pastures, or exploring the surrounding hills. The Dales Way long distance path runs along the length of the valley, as does the River Dee. Dent (4km) is the only village in Dentdale, with its delightful cobbled streets. Further afield are other beautiful dales and picturesque towns. Dentdale's position in the Western dales allows for easy visits to the Lake District too.
Getting around
A car is recommended for sightseeing and exploring the dales but if you enjoy walking or cycling, you could spend a week exploring Dentdale and the Whernside area on foot or by bike, or Sedbergh/Kendal, with the aid of the local bus service (once or twice a week depending on season). We are within 2 km of Dent Station, on the famous Settle-Carlisle line and with trains straight through to Leeds.
Access

How to get there
Airport: Leeds: 88.0 km
Railway: Dent: 2.0 km
A car is recommended for exploring further afield but as the cottage is only 2km from Dent Station (on the famous Settle-Carlisle line and with trains running through to Leeds), getting here by public transport is possible. A local bus runs once or twice a week (depending on season). There are plenty of local walks in Dentdale and in the Whernside area so if you like walking or cycling, you could happily spend a week here without a car.
