Pear Tree Cottage is located just 100 yards from the quayside, in the centre of this busy village which is often referred to as an early days Padstow. The cottage is situated within a private courtyard, along with our other two cottages (Apple Tree Cottage & Mulberry Tree Cottage). The cottage has easy access to all amenities of the village, including six pubs, restaurants, supermarket with delicatessen, post office, news agency, arts and craft shops, art galleries and museum. Pear Tree Cottage is entered directly from the courtyard into the slate floored lounge furnished with two leather armchairs and a sofa, TV/DVD, bluetooth music speaker. The modern, well equipped kitchen/dining area is in a separate room from the lounge. We stayed in Pear tree cottage, upon arrival into Bude street no 5 was a slightly neglected looking brown wooden door, upon opening, your senses are brought alight with the beautiful avenue of cottages all painted in pastel shades, shrubs and plants fill the borders...More

We stayed in the cottage over Xmas 2017. The cottage is large, warm and very comfortable. There is a secure garden (terrier - proof). Paula left a very generous hamper full of treats. This was our fourth Xmas in Appledore, this was the best cottage...More

Lovely cottage in Appledore great location very quite set in a lovely courtyard, 2 minutes from the harbour and local pub and chippy which is excellent, to get the nearest beach is across the ferry £1.50 each way or go round by car it takes...More

About the neighbourhood
Appledore itself is a small fishing village that sits at the estuary of the Taw and Torridge river. It has attractive walks along the quay and towards Bideford or Westward Ho! using the footpaths. The quay is actively used by boat owners. Hidden within its quaint cobbled streets there are a number of interesting art galleries. Appledore is such a busy village it even has its own festivals throughout the year - Visual Arts Festival in May, Regatta Week and Carnival in August and the acclaimed Appledore Book Festival in September. The village is about 3 miles from Bideford & 10 miles from Barnstaple. By Air: The nearest airport is Exeter International. By Train: The nearest train station is Barnstaple. By Ferry: The nearest port is By Car: From the M5 take junction 27. Follow signs for A361 Barnstaple. Follow signs for A39 Bideford. At Bideford roundabout take 3rd exit signed Appledore, Northam. Take right turn, signed Appledore, after Durrant House Hotel. Follow road into Appledore. Take left turn into Odun Road also signed Maritime Museum. Take right into Bude Street. No 5 is just before Appledore Crafts Company on the left. Enter through the brown front door into courtyard.
