About the neighbourhood
Uzerche, ranked among the 100 Most Beautiful Detours in France, Uzerche is located between the cities of Brive and Limoges. It is perched at 342m above sea level, on a rocky promontory nestled in a meander of the river Vézère. The historic Limousin includes 3 departments: Corrèze (19 - Tulle), Creuse (23 - Guéret) and Haute-Vienne (87 - Limoges).Limousin is away from the major roads. It has not yet been spoiled by excessive tourism and has retained its authenticity. The creation of the Regional Natural Park Périgord Limousin and Millevaches Regional Park initiated the development of cultural tourism and Eco-tourism. Limousin is a beautiful quintessential region. A vast network of rivers crisscrosses its lush green countryside and rivers.
Getting around
By train up to Paris, Limoges, or down to Cahors (wine tasting). By car to Perigueaux for the old prehistoric caves and over to Bordeaux, by car to Brive markets and up to Limoges (fine porcelain) and out to the lakes and riverside beaches, markets and cafes. If you are coming by train and on foot, then the cafe, bars and walking around the town are also very pretty and there's plenty to keep you occupied Spring to Autumn. It's beautiful in Winter but colder too, of course. The lights in the town are charming and there's a wonderful festive spirit.
