Holiday Rental House
Completely refurbished and extended for our first season in 2010, with major improvements and further refurbishments in 2016. Sorgente combines the beauty of period features with state-of-the-art amenities such as a heat recovery system (benefiting allergy/asthma suffers) and a Pozzani water filter. Solid oak flooring, traditional sash windows and thick stone walls create a timeless backdrop for a modern interior with a distinctly Mediterranean flavor, inspired by our time spent in Italy. The spacious open plan living room is equipped with a wood-burning stove and leads to the fully equipped kitchen with patio doors opening to a sunny enclosed garden with BBQ and furniture. Upstairs there are a double and twin bedroom providing a high degree of comfort with quality mattresses and bed linen...Completely refurbished and extended for our first season in 2010, with major improvements and further refurbishments in 2016. Upstairs there are a double and twin bedroom providing a high degree of comfort with quality mattresses and bed linens. The luxurious, well lit, bathroom which includes a rain shower with additional hand-held shower, large bath, bidet and Italian porcelain tiles is situated between the two rooms. Note - the bath is high-sided and we do not have a walk-in shower, this should be considered by those who are elderly and/or physically infirm. We welcome babies and young children too, there are stair gates at the top and bottom of the stairs and a highchair is always available. We do not however offer any cots for infants or a changing table/matt. We are pleased that we are able to offer accommodation more suited to asthma and allergy sufferers and have a strict non-smoking, no pets policy. The name Sorgente, an Italian word meaning 'water source', is quite befitting for this traditional character cottage because not only is it within a short stroll of the scenic river and quayside in Penryn, but also because it can mean 'source of energy' – the very substance of a relaxing and re-energising holiday. We are sure that you will enjoy staying in our home away from home as much as we do, please leave us comments in the guest book during your stay, or write a review on Trip Advisor.More

The cottage was beautifully furnished and finished to a high standard. It was in easy reach of Falmouth and there is a good bus service. Lots of various activities in the local area. Perfect place for a llovely week of peace and relaxation. Highly recommended.

About the neighbourhood
Historic background to the area. Originally called Peny-cwm-cuic, which later became 'Pennycomequick', it was the site where Henry VIII built Pendennis Castle to defend Carrick Roads, in 1540. The main town was at Penryn with Sir John Killigrew creating the town of Falmouth shortly after 1613. In the late 16th century, under threat from the Spanish Armada, the defences at Pendennis were strengthened by the building of angled ramparts. During the Civil War, Pendennis Castle was the second to last fort to surrender to the Parliamentary Army. The Falmouth Packet Service operated out of Falmouth for over 160 years between 1689 and 1851. Its purpose was to carry mail to and from Britain's growing empire. As the most south-westerly good harbour in Great Britain Falmouth was often the first por...
Getting around
We recommend using a car to explore this part of Cornwall. It is possible also to use public transport, there is a branch line from Truro which services Penryn and Falmouth. From Truro it is possible to travel towards Penzance or Plymouth. Buses also run to these places and many more in between, however the journey time eats away at your precious holiday time. Main bus station is in Falmouth but all buses from there pass through Penryn, either along Commercial Road, up through Penryn town centre. Penryn train station is a steep climb from the cottage, but close.
