Chedworth, Cotswolds, England
With wonky beams, slopey floors and majestic views across the quintessential English scene, 'Brooklands' is just what you want from a typical Cotswolds' cottage. Tucked within the Ballinger's Row, an historic collection of 17th Century cottages, Brooklands is the charming and perfect 'get away from it all' bolt hole. Inside the character speaks for itself, spacious rooms presented with antique touches, altogether give this beautiful home a truly cosy feel. Watch the telly or read a book in front of the fire, or simply do nothing but enjoy the exceptional setting and commanding views over the completely unspoilt Chedworth Valley. Although in the Row, the impression is of complete seclusion and tranquility, having an enclosed mature garden and being on a narrow lane with scarcely any traffic at all: but cars can deli... Situated in the delightfully picturesque village of Chedworth. An ideal base to explore the Cotswolds, namely Stow on the wold, Burford and Chipping Norton.
Brooklands is off the beaten track but not inaccessible - parking is limited to a small area at the bottom of the hill. First come first served so not guaranteed..
The house itself would be described as quaint. Personal taste obviously, but found the decor and furniture rather dated. The sofa, whilst perfectly adequate does not lend itself to lying down on, or snuggled up with a blanket and enjoying the warmth of the fire.
Towels and bed linen were freshly laundered which is always my first test and it passed.
My only observation is that having stayed in rentals before it lacked a minor personal touch of say a homemade cake or something similar. I know this is not mandatory but the smallest of touches make the biggest difference.
Putting that aside a charming little house so thank you !

Key Facts
Beds: 2 - One double, one single. Double is on the smaller side, as in it is a double, not a queen size, cozy for two, like the rest of the flat. Very comfortable. Single bed is on the short side (I am 6 ft 2 and had not issues though) and is dated but comfortable.
Lounge: Very quaint, lots of exposed timber beams, creaky floors, exposed stone work and wood heater fire. Comfortable double sofa and a cozy wing back chair. Very cozy for 3.
Kitchen: induction hob, small oven, microwave, plenty of cutlery, crockery, cups, mugs and wine glasses. Although if you are cooking a full Christmas dinner for 3 you may have to be imaginative about how to cook it all.
The Village: very quaint, overwhelmingly so. If you like exposed stone, hedgerows and small raods you are in for a treat. The Seven Tuns pub is the only pub in the town and whilst we did not have the opportunity to sample the dinners, the beers are very good and the pub cozy. The are many public...

About the neighbourhood
Chedworth is an absolute beauty of a village! Set approx 5 miles north of Cirencester and approx. 10 miles to the south west of Burford it is one of the most idyllic and mesmerising of villages. It is also very confusing!! Why? Well it's because there are so many little lanes which weave 'this way and that way' across the valley that it is very easy to get lost!! Not that this is a problem, it's actually very much part of the charm and appeal that Chedworth has. We love it. The village now also benefits from the recently re-opened pub; The 7 Tuns (early days, but we're already hearing very good things about it). There are also many good pubs in nearby villages, most notable are The Fossebridge Inn, a friendly Inn in the next village, while The Wheatsheaf in Northleach i... more
