There are no longer 2 terminals at Kota Kinabalu Airport. The former LCCT is closed. All flights now use the main terminal.
The best way into the city, and elsewhere, from the airport, is by taxi. Buy a voucher at the taxi counter in the terminal and the price will be fixed to your destination. The white taxis are the only one licenced to operate at the airport so don’t use any others as they may not accept the voucher.
A voucher to the city and between terminals should cost RM30, and as an example, to Rasa Ria RM90 (2016 prices).
If you arrive between 11:50pm and 6:00am you have to pay a 50% surcharge. There are two ATM machines in the terminal which don't work at times. Make sure you have Malaysian Ringgits. U S Dollars are accepted too but then the ride costs $ 20.00.
The LTT Airport Shuttle Service from the Kampung Air bus terminal (opposite the Hotel Dreamtel) now operates between the Airport and the city. There are two stops between the airport and Hotel Dreamtel terminal - namely near Centrepoint and Horizon Hotel. It operates on an hourly basis - 0730, 0900, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500, 1600, 1700, 1800 and 1900 (Aug 2015). The cost is RM5 (adult) RM3 (Child below 12) each way (Aug 2015). See the information counter in either terminal for information (Tel: 088 - 269500/06 or 016 - 8330405. Email: email@example.com). Depending on the location of your accomodation you may need to catch a taxi from the bus terminal to your hotel.
It is important to note that when arriving in or departing from Kota Kinabalu from/to West Malaysia such as Johore Bahru and Kuala Lumpur, Sarawak and international ports, you will have to go through Immigration and through International Channel. On domestic flights within Sabah you will need photo identification at check in (passport if non Malaysian).
