Yerevan is located in the eastern part of Armenia at a fairly high elevation, about 3500 feet above sea level.  It has a somewhat dry climate for most of the year, with a bit of a wetter season during the early spring, mainly April and May.  The temperatures in Yerevan can get quite cold during the winter months, sometimes down in to the 20's and 30's, but the winters there are typically short.  During the summer the average temperature in the region are quite hot, up over 100 in some cases.  The summers are also very dry.  The hot, dry conditions tend to last from May through September.
