The main mode of public transportation is Coastal Xpress. Visitors use this service to travel between San Pedro town and the various resorts and restaurants located both north and south on the island.
The water taxi departs Amigo's del Mar Dock every two hours starting at 5:30 am with the last run going north at 10:30 pm. Schedules are posted at most of the resort docks where passengers are picked up and dropped off. A typical ride from San Pedro to one of the resorts north takes less than 10 minutes
Fares start at $5.00 USD per person each way and go up accordingly depending on how far up the island a passanger needs to go. There are several ways to purchase your one way or return Daily Pass. Coastal Xpress is now offering Weekly Passes to and from some resorts. Very soon Coastal Xpress will be offering to sell a Golden Weekly Pass. This pass will allow tourists to unlimited travel on any of the regular runs to wherever the water taxi goes north, for one flat fee.
Tourists also have the option to book a private water taxi with Coastal Xpress should they want to travel outside the hours of the regular run. Fares vary for this service depending on the final destination point. For larger groups, please inquire about our group charters and rates.
Finally, land taxis circulate between the airport and the docks in San Pedro, although they are really only used at the beginning and end of your trip to transport luggage. With the average cab ride being about 2 minutes, fares should be just a couple dollars.
