We loved every moment from the time that we picked up at the airstrip to the time that we were taken back. Our Maasai guides, Irene and Simon, (both spoke very good English) found every animal that we could have expected to see. All the staff in the camp were lovely; big shout out to Siana and Fatima for being such fun. After our four night stay we felt that we had been friends with them for years. We had been a little apprehensive about the idea of ‘family dining’ as we would not normally go for communal eating, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Every meal was an opportunity to talk to interesting people and exchange stories of our adventures (it gets quite competitive!). There is no fence around the property so we were warned that we should not venture out alone at night. A member of staff, armed with a stout stick, escorted us to to and from out tent after dark. We encountered two zebras outside our tent during the day and heard animal noises at night (the hippos were very loud) but we always felt safe. The tent was well appointed, with an en-suite loo and hand basin. There was a separate tent with bath, shower, basins and loo a few feet away. This was our first safari camp and we cannot think of anything which could have improved it.

I usually don't write reviews but I want anybody who is thinking of going on a safari to have the same great experience that we had! From the moment our guides met us, we felt like we were home. Our guides Dennis and Judy were phenomenal! We had an instant connection with them. They were both so knowledgeable and their expertise was amazing. After our first drive back to the camp we were welcomed with open arms. It was Karibu nyumbani(welcome home) when we got there. They worked with us in learning swahili! Siana & Fatuma are the most wonderful people in the world! They were so hospitable and attentive to make it such a remarkable experience. They were so excited because they were told I was going to propose to my girlfriend there. They went above and beyond in helping make that night so romantic and memorable!(she said yes) The staff was beyond great! Everybody was so nice! The food was amazing(and I'm a picky eater). They kept you full with food and drinks! We stayed in the giraffe room. Nice view of the mara river from higher up. The tent was amazing. It has a bush toilet(right next to our bed) and then a separate tent a couple feet away with another toilet, shower, and tub. I don't think you can go wrong with any tent there! I would highly recommend staying a night at "the nest". Its a treehouse in which you have to walk to(they said about 20 minutes but it seemed shorter) we had to cross the bridge to get over there and that was an experience in its own right. We woke up to such a beautiful sunrise view with a hippo right at the base of the nest! To put it in perspective, it absolutely downpoured the walk over and rained most of the night which limited some of the space we could use but it was still such a memorable night! I could imagine how great it would be to just lay on the bed and just look up at the stars. I can't say enough at how much everybody there made our experience more than we could ever have imagined. For only being there about 4 days, the everlasting impression everybody made on us was something you can't put into words. Siana, Fatuma, Denis & Judy will always have a special place in my heart! 5 out of 5 stars doesn't even do it justice. Can I give 10 out of 5 stars? It was that amazing. If you ever go on a safari this is the place to go! Not only for the personable experience but also the game drives were more than we expected. We saw so much in the time we were there. That is mostly in part to our guides knowing the land and the animals like the back of their hands. I could go on and on but you only live once so go on a safari at Serian the original it might just be the best thing you do in your life!

We worked with Africa Travel Resource to book a week long safari in Kenya where we stayed at two of Alex Walker’s Serian Camps and this was hands down the best trip I have ever taken. Our guide was awesome, so funny, dedicated to making sure we had a good time (thank you Daniel) and staff at each camp were warm, welcoming and professional. Thank you Moses, Siana and Fatima!
The food, oh man don’t get me started. We ate amazing meals all day long, the evenings by the fire to connect with other guests and then community dinners with ample wine. What an amazing trip!!!

Within 5 minutes of meeting our Safari guide and driver at the airport, we were viewing a cheetah mom and her 3 cubs on our way to camp, followed by a mating pair of lions! The animal viewing during the wildebeest migration was incredible for our 6 days on Safari. And to top it off, a professional Safari photographer was available to join us for a day trip and helped to fine tune our skills to capture stunning images of the wildlife. Upon returning to camp each day, a very capable and warm staff were waiting to assure our time in camp met every expectation.

My brother and I stayed at the Serian for 5 nights. It was an incredible experience. The camp is in the heart of Safari country. We encountered animals in less then 5 minutes from the camp. Our guides were very knowledgeable about the animals and where to find them. We saw spectacular animal situations everyday. Plus it was only a 2 hour drive to see the wildebeest cross the Mara River. The camp is very nice and the staff went out of their way to ensure that we had a great stay. You can’t go wrong with this camp!
