“Excellent rose, intimate wine tasting”

Beautiful, modern vineyard. Lovely wine-tasting (in English), it was easy to purchase many bottles! The day we visited, they were preparing for a music festival, so we stopped to listen to the pianist practice his pieces. The rose was excellent, as were the prices for all of their wines. I don't know if you can even find this label in the USA!

We discovered wine from Chateau Thuerry on a previous stay in the area. So when we found ourselves back in the area, we decided to take the tour. Serge, the vinyard manager, took the tour and for those like us who speak little French, he was able to tell us everything in perfect English. we found him extremely knowledgable and able to answer every question posed to him. the tour was extremely interesting and we found out a number of facts about the wine process we were not aware of and Serge also dispelled a number of myths, which surprised a number of people on the trip. once the tour was complete, it was back to the shop in the Chateau to taste the range of wines produced by Thuerry. Again any questions asked were answered by the knowledgable staff. The thing I really liked about this tour was, during and after the tasting, there was no hard sell and pressure to purchase any of the wine. Even if you do not want the tour, you can still visit the shop at the Chateau and purchase some of their very fine product.

The modernist underground concrete complex that is Thuerry makes it by far the most stylish vineyard that we had the chance to visit in Provenece. We had the pleasure of being shown around by the winemaker through the entire production-part of the vineyard, which is extremely well laid-out and designed with eye for precision. The tours are only held once a week, so call ahead to check.

The wine is of a generally high standard, and the 2007 L'Exception Cab. Sauv. Shiraz is one of the better reds to come out of Provence - an interesting exception among the onslaught of rose.
