“A great find on the way to Monteverde”

Restaurante y cabinas mirador el angel
Ranked #60 of 115 Restaurants in Monteverde
Description: Halfway between Juntas and Monteverde, a well-signed, steep dirt road leads up to this hidden gem with amazing views of the valley and Golfo de Nicoya. The menu (mains US$2 to US$14) features terrific grilled fresh fish casados, plus burgers and other fast food. The rustic cabins overlook the family’s coffee plantation and have private bathroom with hot water, TV and balcony. Owners Angel and Concha are wonderfully hospitable, though little English is spoken. It’s located about 4km south of the tiny village of San Rafael.

After enduring the bumpy/rocky "highway 145" on the way to Monteverde we spotted the sign for this restaurant/hotel and decided to stop. The people were friendly and the food was wonderful (and inexpensive). We had the plate lunches and they were filling and delicious. As mentioned by the other reviewers, they also provide a platform with beautiful scenic views to the west.

We first stopped here on our drive to Monteverde from Tamarindo...just for a quick coffee. We got much more than we bargained for.

Go out the cafe door and high above the valley below is a platform, with jaw dropping views all the way to the Gulf of Nicoya. Daily visitors include white faced monkeys, toucans, and hundreds of other birds. One of the most memorable views I've seen on the planet.

Wow, we stopped here for a quick lunch and what a surprise. View to die for of the gulf of Nicoya and cutest setting on a mountain side with incredible foliage .The Tica lady was so warm and friendly and the food was terrific and incredibly reasonable. I would love to go back for cocktails at sunset. They have cabinas also but I didn't see them. A must stop on way to Monteverde.
