This is not a luxury resort. However, if you are looking for clean, cozy and most importantly friendly this is the spot. It was our first dive trip so we wanted to go someplace smaller with a personal atmosphere. We sure got that with Laura and Alex. Sometimes it was just three of us and the most we ever had on a dive was six including the dive master. The dive sights were great and they were picked each day taking into consideration the weather conditions. Blue Channel was my favorite and Texas was a close second. The food was very good. Again not real fancy but deliciously prepared. The location was perfect if you want to be out of the mainstream of West End. We did take a short water taxi ride over on Friday night and it was fun. A short walk in the other direction lands you in the middle of several restaurants and resorts of West Bay Beach. In either case we much preferred the beautiful sunsets of the Las Rocas deck. The transfer to and from the airport is a wonderful touch. I will end with the staff. We travel a lot and I can say that the staff and service at Las Rocas is the best. Every single person went above and beyond to make our trip the best it could be.

Room Tip: Remember the bug repellant and wear it 100% of the time. Sand fleas are really bad,

Very nice mid-price resort in West Bay, perfectly located if you go there for diving, as to class diving spots are very close. Also if you go for leisure the area is perfect being 10min walk from a myriad of restaurants and entertainment opportunities. Breakfast was ok and it had a nice terrace at the beach to drink a monkey lala during sunset. Finally, it had a semi-private own beach that was a pleasure. I would come again.

Room Tip: Pay a little bit more for the better quality rooms...they are worth it!

Las Rocas is not a large chain type resort, but is a budget friendly modest, clean and comfortable accommodation.
The smaller size affords interaction with staff and other guests or simple solitude. Each bungalow has a veranda with a hammock perfect for relaxing after a day of exploration.
Quietly located away from West Bay Beach, it is a short walk and there is no need for transportation to experience waterfront shops, restaurants and bars.
Excellent snorkeling can also be found right from the beach.
Water taxis will also take you to West End from the resorts own dock.
The open air restaurant on the property offers breakfast, lunch and dinner menus and is also where the included daily hot breakfast is served. We have ate here several times and it is one of our favorite places.
The full service bar is also open air and quiet with a waterfront deck that is perfect for watching the sunsets.
The dive center is considered by many to be one of the best on the island.
We are not certified divers but my wife did sign up for the 3 hour "Discovery Dive" package which teaches safety and beginning dive aspects. The lessons culminate with a dive to 40 foot depths on an actual dive sight. During the dive Laura, the dive instructor, stayed by my wife's side for safety and she very much enjoyed the experience.
The ladies in the office are happy to assist in arranging off property activities, many of which offer free round trip shuttle service to the resort.
The resort's included airport shuttle has always been on time and is much appreciated.
My wife and I have stayed here three times in three different bungalows and have enjoyed each visit.
We have always been welcomed by an accommodating staff that treats us as old friends.
We look forward to returning to see our friends.

I debated over giving it a 3 or 4 star rating. The rooms themselves are 3 star at best with hard mattresses and no kitchenette or even coffee pots in the rooms (which was tough on me since I'm an early riser and had to wait until the restaurant opened at 8 to get a cup of coffee!). The AC worked great and they do have a stocked minifridge in the rooms with drinks and snacks for a fee. One doesn't travel to Roatan for a luxury vacation however and the dive shop and package was great! You cannot take towels to the beach and they do not provide them so bring your own. The small resort has a tiny sea-water filled "pool" and a deck overlooking the water. There is a small beach area next to the resort but walk along the boardwalk about 100 yards to get to the main beach which was nice. There are several restaurants and a few small resorts along the beach. We did not receive a bad meal at any of the restaurants we visited and often had the place to ourselves since we traveled during low season in June. Las Rocas has a bar and open air restaurant with breakfast included (fruits, pastries, cereal, yogurt and a "hot plate" of the day). We ate dinner the first night there but sampled a different restaurant every day. Take a water taxi over to West End for a change in pace. We met several people who return to Las Rocas every year and it stays booked year round. We like to try different places but we might consider staying at Las Rocas again mainly because of the dive shop!

Room Tip: Not much difference that I could see.

The staff at Las Rocas are great and very accommodating, we enjoyed our stay very much.
The rooms were comfortable and clean.
The food was good and the drinks were cold.
The resort's airport shuttle service is invaluable...use it.
We really appreciated having onsite 24 hr roaming security on the premise. They look out for their guests and know who is suppose to be on property.
My stepson enjoyed the Discovery Dive Tour led by Alex, the dive staff took care of him and made sure he was safe.

We would recommend this location to anyone wanting an affordable, diving resort in the West Bay area. If you are looking for a party scene, then everything is a 10 minute walk down the beach or a water taxi ride.

Room Tip: Do not get a room on the bottom level, the wooden building creaks with every movement. Bring lots of bug spray for the sand fleas and mosquitos!!
