The hotel is ideally located on the lake shore and has its own wooden platform for sunbathing and swimming along with adjacent overpriced bar. We liked spacious two-rooms apartments and the cleaning service was very efficient. But in the end of season it seemed that the staff was preparing for a long winter break and did not actually cared a lot about the guests. It was early evening and we could not find any employee in the hotel’s restaurant though it was open. We went dining to a different place. The reception staff was half sleeping. We had a good dinner in their restaurant the other day but they forgot to include the bill into our check out bill and we had to settle the issue by phone and emails later on. And what really shocked us was the price we paid for average breakfast buffet - 40 euros per person! We knew about this only at checkout. Frankly, the fair price was around 15.

We stayed in this hotel for the first time based on the recommendation. Can recommend for 2 or 3 persons apartment 113 with large terrace and swimming pool/lake view. Apartment consists of 2 rooms, large bathroom and wardrobe. Room was very nicely furnished, furnitures new and with modern taste. Very good cleaning service.

What we like the most is location. Very close to the lake, many restaurants and promenade.

Overall solid 4 star hotel with small improvements regarding breakfast. No issue with selection, staff was polite and competent but sometimes too long waiting time and very casual way of dressing. In some cases we had difficulties to recognize the difference in between hotel staff and hotel guests.

We came as part of an event and we were delighted about the room we had - the view and the amenities. Almost new - we missed very few things.
- In the bathroom (Shower and wash room) we missed hook - not ONE was available.
- the catering started late - only on the holiday date (Christs asencion day) May 25th - and one noticed they were not firm with table numbers, wines etc.
But all in all they did their best - the sushi items we had (Tuna etc.) were excellent.

Room tip: any room with a view or a balcony to the lake is top!

After a string of annual visits to lovely Portschach am Worthersee, I was really looking forward to trying out the Lakes Hotel. We had visited the restaurant for a book launch event and the patio for drinks in years' prior. It was surprising to book and learn there was no breakfast option, but I was beguiled by the massage package offered as an incentive and I booked. Upon check-in, I mentioned our massage package and the receptionist said we were entitled to one per night of stay (not per person, per night of stay) which had been unclear, but my friend and I scheduled the first two for the next morning. We were pleased with the service and looked forward to the next. Otherwise, our room was enjoyable, spacious, pleasant and clean and any staff we had dealings with were pleasant. The only issue with our room was the wi-fi, which was abysmal to the point of utter frustration and very out-of-line with expectations of a hotel of this classification... UNTIL... after a few days had passed, we stopped by the front desk to book the final massages and were told there was a problem. The girl who mentioned this gave us a time to return and see the manager, reassuring us that she would resolve it. We were surprised when the manager we encountered seemed completely uninterested in resolution and in fact told us our booking was incorrect which she showed me over-and-over on a faded computer print-out, with escalating rudeness and volume in her tone. Never mind that we had ALREADY had our massage package CONFIRMED and had RECEIVED the first two! Being used to far more customer-service-oriented establishments, this was shocking and as I was unable to get a decent wifi connection long enough to contact customer service from the booker, we were shorted our much-anticipated final service. In my country of origin, the name for this kind of deceptive business tactic is "bait & switch". Upon check-out, this same manager decided to compound insult with injury and actually put the first two massages on my bill, at which point I was thoroughly disgusted. Though she removed them after more argument between us, I was flabbergasted. Its a shame that such an incident, that could have been resolved easily with respect and consideration, was handled so shamefully. It was enough to spoil any good impression I had of the establishment, itself. I'd gladly recommend to anyone for the same price-point/expectation level, the Park Hotel Portschach, which I've enjoyed. Grand and stately, the Park Hotel is situated just next-door along the Promenade and has a glorious, sumptuous breakfast option, lovely spa and perfectly attentive service.

Easily reachable from the A2 motorway, the place is a superb stop-over choice.

The rooms are quite spacious, with a wonderful minibar, "XL old-time travel case" style (see pictures), with reasonable choice of beverages (the door is magnetic - you may have to use a little force to open it, although be carefull not to flip it over).

Definitely go for a lake-view room, if you have time to enjoy it - if the weather is good, the views are amazing (see pictures).

Back in 2012 there was a very good restaurant - unfortunately closed in 2013, no idea about current state. The staff can advise on nearby restaurants (e.g. Joainig - local food & wines, very good quality - see dedicated review).

Be careful on local events (e.g. weekend bike races) - it may happen (as it did to us) that local road shall be closed for a few hours, leaving you with nothing to do except walking (or cheering the sportsmen). The reception staff has solid knowledge about it - you just have to ask.
