REVIEW ON LANGEBAAN BOUTIQUE & SPA HOTEL
WEEKEND OF 16 NOVEMBER -18 NOVEMBER 2024
My worst experience ever at an hotel and needless to say apparently 5 stars! No ways!
On the 17 October I booked a standard room via my Discovery Vitality that was discounted for 2 nights at R1800 originally priced at R1200 per night = R2400.
I immediately contacted the hotel and spoke to Tiffany and Joslin to confirm my booking and they apparently did not receive any documents from Discovery. I immediately forwarded them my Discovery hotel voucher. I phoned several times and eventually I spoke to Tiffany or Joslyn and I was told that we are booked into room 5 luxury room. I was waiting for confirmation I also enquired about your menus and Spa treatments. I followed up with several e-mails and telephone calls and WhatsApp messages with no response received, until 2 weeks later after I phoned again, I received an e-mail from Joslin on 1 November with my own copy of Discovery booking and advising us that we will receive 20% on food and drinks and Spa treatments for pensioners.
On our arrival on Saturday 16 November, we had breakfast and was very disappointing as nothing that was displayed on your adverts was available. Your warm meats are halaal and sausages so processed and no bacon as displayed but cold dried out pork rashers. No fruit, no cold meats, savoury mince, haddock nothing it was the worst breakfast I ever ate. The manager was walking up and down in his shiny suit and shoes between the tables in the breakfast room and sat opposite us watching everyone. I felt like I was in an exam class being watched.
After breakfast we went to our vehicle to collect our luggage and Laurike was there to assist. In your parking area going towards the back entrance to our room, you have an illegal electric cable from the building on the ground held down by 2 concrete slabs laying down in the entrance of the walkway that I nearly tripped over, running towards a water tank about 30 meters further away. This is a safety hazard and very illegal I could have injured myself.
Next, we were escorted to our room 5 and was highly disappointed that the patio door was jammed and could not open the door at all as the wheels were ceased. The roman roller blinds were broken and could not roll up. The toilet seat was so loose I found myself sitting on the porcelain toilet pot. I immediately brought it to the lady at reception ‘’ Laurika’’ that tried to assist but no maintenance staff was available. I could not imagine sitting in a small room without opening the door and blinds and we had a dog with us and I get very claustrophobic If I opened the main door to the room I would look straight into the other room. They therefore decided they will move us to room 15 which is another room outside the building.
It was bigger, the patio door could open at least, but same problem toilet seat was also loose, shower blockage and hand rail loose. We had no hairdryer, no air conditioner and, I therefore had to request a fan. We also had no WIFI which I brought to the manager attention several times did nothing. No toiletries and coffee and tea which I also had to request, running up and down to reception as the phone also did not work in the room. This all was very stressful for me as I arranged a weekend away to relax and enjoy my husband 72 birthday and our wedding anniversary. Not even a chocolate on the bed or congratulating us was added to the huge disappointments i had to endure. Needless to say, no apology or response or assistance from the manager not an utter word came from his mouth.
I then had a full body massage and pedicure booked for 11 am and needless to say was not very professional. There was no shower cap for my hair to protect it from the oils. The lady eventually found one and as I placed it on my head my head pop right through it, it was old and perished.
The tools used to clean my toenails was not sanitised etc, etc. A special for R595 was a waste of money as for the pedicure it was not done correctly with myself laying down on the same massage bed. You need advice from Sorbet and The Nail Bar where you sit comfortable in a chair and feet soaked first for 10 – 15 minutes none of this was done.
The following day we had a small omelette with tomato and cheese, on request as I don’t eat that halaal food. No bacon or haddock available as per the manager, nothing was done to make us feel welcomed it was a nightmare. After breakfast we drove into town and shortly after that I received a call from Laurika at 10:25 am that the cleaner is leaving at 1 pm and they would need to clean the room before she leaves.
I told her its fine we not there they can clean our room. She explained that she needs our key as they have lost the spare key. I told her that is ridiculous that they don’t have a spare key we therefore had to drive back immediately to the hotel to drop of the keys. Within 10 minutes we handed the key to the cleaner Caroline and told her to hand it to reception when finished cleaning.
At 12:41 pm I received a WhatsApp message from Laurika that she has not received the keys and cannot clean the room. I was so angry and phoned the hotel immediately at 12:43 pm and spoke to Vida and explained that I immediately gave the keys to Caroline and she knew that it had to be dropped off at reception. All our belongings are in the room and she must inform me immediately that the received the keys or they will have to get a locksmith to open the door. My entire afternoon was so stressful I could not relax and no response from the hotel. I phoned the hotel at 13:07 pm no response. I then left a WhatsApp message at 13:16 pm to please advise me whether they had received the key from Caroline. No response received again. My entire afternoon was ruined with worry.
At 15:34 pm as we were returning to the hotel Vida called to say there was a misunderstanding between her and Laurika and the key was there. No apologies, I was very stressed out and my back in spasms as I came to relax but it was the biggest mistake coming here.
As we entered the hotel room, there was no coffee, sugar, milk, tea and water and the toilet seat was still loose. I again had to walk back to the hotel and complain that this weekend was to relax we are pensioners and no assistance or care given. It was supposed to have been a special weekend for us but was my worst experience in an hotel ever. I could not swim in your pool it was so filthy never swept in weeks the water was not sparkling at all. Refer attached photos. Our pool at home is swept and cleaned everyday and sparkles all the time. I should have rather stayed at my own home.
Your cleaner was mopping the pool wooden deck, and with the same mop and bucket was mopping the pool loungers clean. I was so disgusted in seeing this being done, this is totally unhygienic and unprofessional I refused to lay on any of the pool loungers because of germs. No time for me to relax but instead I found myself running up and down to hotel reception to complain which was ignored at all times.
We checked out early on Monday morning at 6 am but nobody was at reception as arranged with your manager.
