I like to be fullsome in my reviews, by disccusing the things that matter to me, which I hope is helpful to others; so here goes.

Airport/Transfer:
We flew down on Air Canada from Toronto, just over 5 1/2 hours. Through customs in a matter of minutes and on the road within 30 mins from landing. It's a beautiful drive up the east coast then through the rain forest. Just over 90 minutes to the resort. It's in a van usually and our driver tried to sell us on using him to take us on excursions, however, it was on his preferred days and the prices seemed to change during the trip.

Hotel: The Hotel is clean, and quaint. Almost like a boutique hotel, with 4 floors I believe. Got a free upgrade to a room with a ground floor patio. Staff at front desk were very friendly as were the housekeeping folks. Rooms were big, full cable. Be prepared however for a bit of a musty smelll, if you haven't opened the windows or run the fans, as they mop the floors daily. Also be prepared for no bath, but a shower with a seat (if those things matter to you).

As for the grounds, it was lovely, very pretty and a nice sized pool (only complaint about pool is that it would be nice to have someone on a more regular basis skim it with a net to get the leaves, straws etc floating around as the size of the pool dictates that it may be awhile before it hits the filter.)

Restaurants/Food
I will say this, your best option in St. Lucia is the all inclusive, or be prepared to pay alot to eat there. That being said, there are grocery stores and booze off resort is cheap. However, we werew on the AI and the food was delicious. The breakfast buffet was the same every day but had enough in it to keep us satisfied. The lunch menu was phenominal, and so was the snack menu (a smaller lunch menu) Dinner was great as well, with all meals lunch and dinner cooked to order, so be prepared to wait as it's all prepared fresh. There was also a Creole restaura open for dinner and it's menu changed every few nights which is great.
For meals expect starter, meal and dessert.

Drinks/Bar
Lots of specialty drinks to choose from, most were delicous. Not much more to add to that, other than, if you drink beer, there's the local Piton or Heineken.

Staff
Here's where I have to say, the service from Sam at the Creole restaurant was amazing, what a nice lady, and our favourite server Lise was amazing. On the bar, Shady and the bigger uy (totally forgot his name) were the better of the bar tenders.
As for the rest, to be completely honest, some seemed like they just didn't want to be there, and outside of the ones I mentioned, didn't really seem to appreciate the tips or want to engage in any conversation which is uncomfortable when every meal is a sit down meal.

Excuriosns.
There are many to choose from, day trips by car or catamaran to the Ptions, mudbaths, waterfalls etc. also Ziplining and trips to Matinique. Expect to pay more than $100 for most. But always nice to see the island. (which is very pretty)

Beach
The beach is about a 5 minute walk going down the local route, or 10 minutes, going down the street. It's a nice beach (not even close to Cuba nice) but Reduit beach is supposed to be the nicest on the island, it's clean, lots of fishes to see with a mask, nice views of Pigeon Island and cool to have sail boats in the bay. You can haggle the price for chairs and an umbrella. Prices ranging from 15EC to 40EC. And lots of water sports if you're willing to pay.

Town:
It's a small town, but nice to walk around, head over to the marina, there are two little malls, a casino, lots of restaurants if not on an All Inclusion plans etc. Busy night life of the weekend.

Overall, for the right price this is the best hotel to stay at in St. Lucia. You're closer to the village than other hotels, such as St. James Bay (which we heard nothing but bad reports, from those we met whowere staying there) and it's much more affordable than Sandals.

Room Tip: Swim up pool rooms, or poolside, but book once you arrive and pay for the upgrade there, much cheaper than paying online (literally save 100's of $$$)

I would rather not say anything but I think the Staff at coco palm are very racist... I rather go to Bay Gardens or Almond Morgan bay. The place is relatively clean and the cleaning staff are nice. Apart from that i would give hospitality pretty much a 0. Very rude staff and really awkward rules (once you've had your all you can eat breakfast, you cant even go out for a minute and return for FRUITS. completely absurd. There are way better hotels in the vicinity.

Stayed at the coco in April 2012 in a ground floor garden room.
Loved the hotel, a little piece of quiet paradise in the hustle and bustle of Rodney bay.
Travelled with two young children, the staff were wonderful, especially Peppy - who ended up being a witness at our impromptu wedding on pigeon island! The hotel arranged everything in a few days, even down to buttonholes and bouquets!
As room only guests we came and went as we pleased, tried many of the restaurants around the bay, all of which were great value and served everything from French to creole to pizza.
Particular favourite was Spinnakers on the beach - amazing prawns and cocktails
This is a great hotel, in a great location if you want to be central to the lively Rodney bay
Would definitely stay there again if we return.

A lot of bang for your buck.
The staff were exceptionally pleasant and friendly, courteous and professional, they catered to your every need. The accommodation though not five star, made up for this in every other aspect from ambiance and location to Great Service and Great FOOD.....Chef Curtis oh yeah!!!! Chef Curtis has the enviably ability to delicately balance his herbs and spices to have your mouth gushing in anticipation once you get the faintest whiff of his menu......My preference is ANY Seafood he prepares, Thumbs up Chef Curtis. Generally the staff was great and my wife and I have place this resort in St. Lucia on our yearly calendar.!!!!!!

Room Tip: Cozy, comfortable.....enjoy !

I have just returned from Coco Palm as part of group of 4 (fiance and 2 friends) and cannot underestimate enough how good a value for money hotel this was. The rooms were excellent with fantastic air-con, modern bathrooms and fast wi-fi which was accessible all over the hotel (ignore anyone who says it is slow, i would guess at 30mb/s so comparable to most in UK). The bar and waiter staff were the best I have met, chatty and delivering superb service. The hotel grounds were nice as was the pool however the pool bottom is not smooth so we did cut our feet slightly when playing in there over prolonged period of time. One area of concern was the front desk who did not meet the same standards of the other staff members. On arrival we were kept waiting whilst our room was cleaned (they knew our arrival time, this should have already been done) and what was most annoying was we had to go up and ask how much longer they would be where as I would expect to be kept advised as to how long we would have to wait (after 30 mins). Also the front desk failed to pass a message onto us about how a slight revision to an excursion which left us waiting outside before checking with them.
The area of rodney bay is definitely the most modern on the island and in my opinion the best place to stay (castries is worth a visit but not to stay in, needs a lot of investment to bring it to same standard).
All in all a fantastic vacation and a great hotel. If prices stay the same in comparison to others in St Lucia I would always choose Coco Palm!
