The resort is clean, and the staff is very friendly. The restaurants are very good. Make a reservation as soon as you arrive for the specialty restaurants like Gordons. The morning breakfast choices are a buffet or a menu choice, both of which are very good. There is a brick oven pizza restaurant and a creperie with ice cream at the creperie. There is absolutely no tipping. The grounds are clean, and there is a swim up bar.

Is it really 5 star? When we went in March 2018 we were disappointed that the service, condition and safety issues certainly not up to the standard previously experienced at the other 70+ nights spent at other Sandals resorts.

E.g. service - on the last night we had to wait 1 hour before they even took our order at Bayside, they didn't bring the speciality cocktail ordered and we had to keep asking staff for our wine to be refilled. The food generally was good but not great, several of the dishes were left or only partly eaten on the Sandals Select evening meal (usually one of the best meals) with 2 out of the 4 couples on our table going to one of the other restaurants afterwards for something else.

E.g condition - some areas especially carets were shabby (see photo). Why they renew the corridor carpet in block 5 floor 1 which was in reasonable condition when block 2 floor 2 was clearly in greater need?

E.g. safety - see the photo of the hairdryer plug with the electric terminal exposed when we arrived, it finally was replaced on the 3rd day after repeated visits to reception to complain.

Having said all that the staff were great, very friendly and helpful, the weather v good and the holiday enjoyable.

We were first time Sandals visitors and had just gotten married 2 days prior to our arrival. We did not know what to expect from Sandals. We were very impressed with everything. 12 restaurants on site and we loved them all. We had planned to travel to La Toc and Halcyon (since there's a free shuttle between the resorts) but never felt like we needed to leave Grande since it had everything we could want. Food quality was what surprised us the most - we loved pretty much every meal we had! We ate a brick oven pizza for lunch at Dino's almost daily because it was so good. We went to Kimono's hibachi style Japanese steakhouse twice because we enjoyed it so much. Soy had delicious sushi. Gordon's views and surf and turf were very nice. 6 night stay was pretty much the perfect duration as we got to explore everything we wanted to.

Tips: Get reservations at Gordon's and Kimono's when you first arrive at the resort. They book up especially Gordon's. We loved the Italian restaurant too and we had the best server of the whole week there - his name is Kelvin and he was fantastic. Monday is a fun day because it is a beach party with fire dancers and stilt walker performers and a huge buffet of food and people grilling steaks and chicken etc. right on the beach for you. It was delicious and the entertainment was awesome. One thing we enjoyed was using the Hobiecat small sailboats that are free to Sandals guests. Check them out - they even give you a free lesson and it is easy to sail them and cruise around Rodney Bay.

Do JJ's boat tour (!!!!) it was amazing and well worth the money - highlight of our trip!

Walk over to Pigeon Island State Park next door to the resort and hike around. Our favorite part was the edge of the park the Caves were cool got some good photos there. Gotta hike up to the top though as well for the amazing views.
Drink a "Bob Marley" by the pool - amazing frozen drink
They have sandals photographers on site but any of the wait staff will take your photo with your cell phone if you ask which we really appreciated.
Great week in paradise! Only bad part is leaving! And maybe the drive back to the airport (took 1hr 20 min).

Highly recommend Sandals Grande!!!

GM and staff get an A+ for customer service. We’ve been to most of the Sandals Resorts and this one ranks at the top along with Negril. Thanks Winston Anderson, Rouhan, Simone and the rest of the great staff.

Our vacation was a combo, 10th anniversary and hubby's 50th bday. We had a Rondoval room. The room itself was amazing. The only issue was it's at the end of the resort and the locals party on the other side of the fence. Very Loud music some nights up until 2am. We go to bed early and wake up early, so it was really annoying. We were offered another room, same type, but no view. The original room had amazing views, so we bit the bullet. Next time, I wouldn't stay in that particular room from the beginning. Everything else was simply wonderful. Every restaurant was amazing. Loved the coffee on this island. Champagne every day. We could order from any restaurant and have it delivered to our room. One night, did a butler's cruise, really enjoyed that. Did JJ's speedboat tour, fabulous time. On my husband's birthday, we had a bubble bath prepared for us. At Gordon's, we had a table reserved with a wonderful view. A special dessert for the bday boy and they sang. All unexpected. Just very nice small touch. Our butlers were amazing. I would absolutely go again, just a different room.
