This small cottage was President Paul Kruger's last residence and office in the ZAR. After the British annexation of the ZAR in September 1900 - not recognised by the president - Kruger was more or less forced into exile in Europe.
The museum's display of old photos outlines Kruger's life and efforts on behalf of the Boer Republic. It's small but intriguing and well worth a visit (30-60 minutes). The house and grounds are beautifully maintained, A security guard-concierge welcomes visitors and will keep an eye on your car.
we visited this town for a one day stay-over. Absolute great stay at the hotel but during the night there were locals revving their cars in the street about 100 meters from the Police station. Cant believe that the Police did nothing. The Sunday morning the locals were arguing in the street, we didn't even feel like a walk in town and left. A real downer.
We would have loved to go into the house, but we did not get out of the vehicle.....
The nature is beautiful there and there are HUGE OLD trees with their white stems there, and the are are kept tidy, but we were not happy to park there as it seemed as if there are no safe parking
