Owner description: Villiera is a family run winery situated in the Stellenbosch region, producing a range of still wine and recognised as one of South Africa’s leading Methode Cap Classique producers. It is a pioneering, innovative, quality wine company committed to preserving the environment. Villiera is also committed to education and upliftment of their staff and their families. Villiera is home to the Villiera Wildlife Sanctuary (220 Ha). During a conducted wildlife drive visitors will be shown sustainability at work: the Solar Powered cellar, the Owethu clinic, The Pebbles Project, the Early Childhood development centre, the Tree Planting project (over 100,000 indigenous trees planted to date – part of an on-going greening project), the vineyards, the Wildlife Sanctuary and most importantly the range of Villiera wines. Visitors can also taste our range of Domaine Grier wines from France.

The whole experience was a wonder.Started off with the gentle extended tour around the protected game reserve.Despite the ghastly drought there were many different species including zebra, springbok, giraffes, kudo etc all oblivious of the 'tourists on trail'.

Then back for a comprehensive tutored tasting under the dappled shade of the trees which added to the magic of the occasion.A not to be forgotten experience which I would recommend again and again.

Impressive.

Thank mncrbest

We had a really nice young man who did the wine tasting with us today. His knowledge on all the wines was excellent. The other thing I would say that it is not too commercialized like some of the other wineries. What they do have is a Safari which has 4 Jeeps. We had an extraordinary afternoon going on one of these vehicles and we saw 5 Giraffes only a few feet away, plus Kudus, Zebra, Springbok, Eland and many unusual birds and the best part of it is that they are safe with no predators. You can even get out of the Jeep. Truly a great experience. A good trip out for children and a very memorable day.

Go. Sit. Breathe. Drink.
Lovely outside seating invite you to drink in some tranquility with the wines on offer. Price wise, both for the tasting and the bottles self, this farm remains a winner. You will be welcomed with a bubbly and expect to see the wine maker's dogs shuffling about.
Be sure to try the Fired Earth and the, as my sister in law called it, "flowery, nougatty, Turkish delighty white one."

The passion of the Grier Family is evident in the way they pursue biological green farming methods. To win the accolade for best Green Farm in the world is evident of their commitment. Their MCC's and wines are top quality and excellent. The Munro MCC, Blanc Fume and Munro Red is excellent. How refreshing to have see top quality wines and affordability. Book for a wine tasting and game drive. It is a super experience.
